"How do I do this one?" Camilo asked.

Ana and Camilo were sitting in the library together. She was helping them study algebra on their break period.

"You actually got the formula right, you just missed a step, here." Ana took the pencil and paper from his hand, drawing out the equation and highlighting the proper step. "If you do it like this, you get the negative."

"Oh." Camilo smiled in understanding.

Ana had quickly realized that Camilo didn't have any problem with memorization or learning. He remembered every single one of the villagers' names and stories. But he had a hard time understanding the concepts in the way the teacher taught them. All along, it had been a teaching failure.

Mirabel was above them on the ladder, pulling books off the tall shelves, searching for the one she wanted.

"Is this right?" Camilo passed the problem he was working on to Ana.

"Yeah, just rewrite the negative sign in the numerator or in front of the fraction, but you're not wrong."

Camilo became slightly giddy. He was understanding algebra and was starting to get the hang of it too.

"Extra studying for the class failure?"

Ana and Camilo looked up from the table to see Carlos and one of his goons, both bandaged from the injuries Camilo had inflicted on them.

"You're so stupid you need help from the new girl to get your sorry-ass in shape?" Carlos smirked but was cut short when a heavy book fell on his head.

"Oops. Sorry." Mirabel wasn't sorry at all. She slid down the ladder and picked the book off the floor, stepping on Carlos's toes as she walked back to the shelves and climbed up once again.

Carlos glared but left the library, shuffling his feet and rubbing his head.

"Nice one, Prima!" Camilo called up to her.

"What is his deal?" She asked, placing the book back on the shelf.

"He's just mad because he got his ass handed to him the other day." Camilo shrugged and turned back to his work. Ana sighed and leaned her head on his shoulder, watching him write on the paper, pointing out a few mistakes here and there. She yawned, her eyes slowly fluttering shut.

"Wake up, bebé. We have class." Camilo's soft voice brought her out of her slumber.

"Mmm" She whined, still mostly asleep, burying her face deeper into Camilo's uniform.

"Amor, we need to go now."

Ana sat up blurry eyed, looking around. Camilo grabbed her hand and led her out of the library.

As Ana began to wake up, she muttered, "Gosh, how long was I out?"

"Only a few minutes. You should get more rest, Querida."

They sat down in the back of class. The day dragged on and finally, school let out.
