"Ana? I didn't know you were coming over." Mirabel slid down the stairs and wrapped her friend up in a big hug, grinning ear to ear.

"What about me?" Camilo whined playfully.

"You can help Mami with the cooking while I give Ana the grand tour." Mirabel touched her glasses and waved him off with a smug smile. He grumbled away, shuffling his feet along the tiles.

When he had gone, Mirabel grabbed Ana by both hands and tugged her up the stairs to the balcony. They ran through the open corridor, Mirabel gesturing to doors and listing names in quick succession.

"Dolores. Camilo. Tía Pepa. Abuela. Mamá. We don't talk about Bruno. Luisa. Isabela. And... me." They stopped at a regular wooden door painted turquoise with the name 'Mirabel' written in red across it.

"That was Camilo's idea, actually." Mirabel touched her glasses then dragged Ana through the door.

"That's sweet... kind of?" Ana tried.

"Well we were five." Mirabel glanced around the room, as though looking for something.

They heard a knocking on the door and a big, muscular woman leaned around the doorframe, a kind smile gracing her otherwise beautifully rugged features.

"What's going on?" She asked, looking towards Ana.

"Camilo brought a girl home." Mirabel explained poorly.

"Camilo has a girlfriend?" The woman questioned.

"Camilo has a girlfriend?" An orange haired woman with a cloud over her head poked her head around the other side of the doorway.

"How did you get together?" A woman with the same springy curls as Camilo peeked around the corner on the opposite side of the balcony.

"'Why did you get together' is a better question." A fourth woman, dressed in purple and covered in flowers, walked past the door without even looking in.

"Ugh." Mirabel scoffed.

"Umm. Camilo and I aren't dating." Ana corrected.

"Oh, okay." The muscular woman said.

"Shame." The woman on the other side of the balcony hummed and walked away.

"Good choice. You could do better." The orange-haired woman's cloud disappeared.

"Wow, Mami. That's a little harsh, don't you think?" Camilo turned the corner and waltzed into the room.

"That's not harsh, that's honest." The flowered woman yelled from the other room.

"No one asked you, Isabela." Camilo shouted back.

"Watch it, niño." The cloud came back for a moment as she left.

"Sorry, Mami." He called after her.

"This is Luisa, that was Tía Pepa, Dolores on the other side, and, of course, Señorita Perfecta Isabela." Mirabel made a face.

Luisa nodded and left the doorway as well.

"Antonio should be around here somewhere. I'll go find him." Mirabel ran out of the room.
