I find myself at the skeeball machine, racking up hundreds of points. I plan on loading the machine with coins to create an endless game, but so far I'm still on my ninth ball. Natsu walks over, and I pause.
"Wow, you're really good at this, Luce!" He looks from the ball in my hand, to the score, which currently reads 750.
"Yeah, lemme just get this ball in," with a good swing, the ball rolls up the path, and lands nicely into the 100 hole. "Yes!" I jump, cheering. I give Natsu a hug out of excitement, then drop it, a little embarrassed.
"Nice!" He congratulates me, obviously happy about the hug.
"You should try!" I say, handing him a ball.
"No, I'll just break it," Natsu protests.
"Oh, come on! I tried Street Fighter. For me?" I pout again, and Natsu stiffens.
"Oh- alright." He takes the ball from my hand and lines up to take a shot. With a powerful windmill swing, Natsu shoots the ball. It flies up the path, but bounces off the top of the machine. It comes back down, and shoots off in the distance behind us. Natsu looks at me with a sheepish expression, and I can't keep the shock off of my face.
"Natsu!" I finally exclaim.
"S- sorry," he frowns. "I guess I'm just no good."
"Now, what was it that you said? 'Oh, don't be that way'? Yeah. Now come here." I pick up another ball, and give it to him. "Hold it in your hand like an egg, not like a football. When you release the... egg, you want to be gentle. You don't want to break anything. Literally," I smile under my breath. He takes the ball and practically crushes it, but I take his hand and gently loosen it. Standing behind him, I help him practice a few swings.
"O- ok." Natsu follows my instructions, getting a solid twenty points. It still bounced off the top, but at least it didn't shoot out, right?
"Good job, Natsu!" I exclaim, hugging him again. I suddenly stop, and step back.
"Hey, Luce?"
"Yeah?" I look up at Natsu, who looks very serious all of the sudden.
"Thanks. For showing me, I mean. I've never really understood this game."
"Oh, you're welcome!" I feel myself start to blush. It's a good thing the lighting is dimmer here.
"Hey, let's go to the bumper cars next!" He grabs my hand and pulls me further into the arcade.
"O- Ok!" I follow Natsu with newfound energy.
