Lunch with Juvia

A couple days pass, and Levy tells me she's led all of the student council meetings since. She appears a little upset about it, but not because of the responsibilities. No, she's curious why Erza isn't there. There's no way Erza could be avoiding her responsibilities, is there? Meanwhile, it feels like a certain pinkette has been avoiding me... Pfft, as if I need him. I just hope I don't see him this period...

Since Levy is off at the student council meeting, and Lisanna and Cana have class now, I'm eating with Juvia. I haven't really gotten to hang out with her one-on-one, so this could be good for our relationship!

"Juvia is so excited to have lunch with Lucy-san!" Juvia bounces up and down next to me.

"I am too, Juvia! We haven't really gotten to talk since I got here. What do you usually do during lunch? I never see you." When I look at Juvia, she has this strange look on her face. Happy, but creepy at the same time.

"Juvia watches Gray-sama!" Juvia clasps her hands together in glee. Uh oh, I don't think I'll be eating this period...

Juvia pulls me behind a tree with her once we get there. The S-class are sitting at one of the park benches set up between the two dorm buildings, and by the looks of it, that's their place. There are a lot of other people out, too, but spying on the S-class seems to be some kind of norm here, because no one seems to care that we're here. Or maybe because it's Juvia.

"Gray-sama..." Juvia sighs, her eyes forming hearts. Gray is sitting with his back to us. Next to him is Erza, and a tall blue haired boy I don't recognize. Across from them is Mira and Laxus. Erza looks like she's talking to the others, but Laxus is focused on his food, Mira is on her phone, and Gray is lost in thought.

"You guys are impossible," we hear Erza mutter from our hiding spot.

"Don't worry about them," the bluenette replies in a low voice. "You know they'll come. They have to."

"Hey, Juvia?" I nudge the girl next to me, pulling her out of probably another Gray- themed fantasy.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, Lucy-san? What is it that made you pull Juvia away from her wedding?" Juvia grins, and I can tell I'm losing her again.

"Who's that blue haired guy next to Erza? I've never seen him in classes before."

"Oh, that's because Jellal does not attend Fairy Tail High. Jellal is in college."

"So that's Erza's boyfriend. Jellal. Hmm..." I lean forward from behind the tree, just to spot Juvia wandering towards Gray. "Juvia!" I grab her by the hem of her coat and pull her back into hiding.

"What was that for, Lucy-san?"

"Don't just go up to him!"

"But why not?"

"Because we've been hiding! That's a little weird, don't you think?" I say, a little exasperated.

"B- but. Juvia does this all the time!" Juvia looks like she's about to cry. Good going, me.

"No, i- it's ok Juvia. Just... not this time. Next time we'll go up and say hi." Juvia brightens, and I sigh in relief.

"It's about time you showed up," Erza's voice interrupts my thought, and I hide behind the tree again, pressing my back against the bark.

"Well, of course," a familiar voice joins the group, and I bite my lip. Not him!

"Ok then. Take a seat." I hear rustling. "I almost thought you went to the student council meeting or something, and couldn't get out."

"Speaking of that, why aren't you there, being the president and all?"

"Oh shut it, Natsu. They know I can't be there. My vice, Levy McGarden, is taking care of things."

"And why is it that you can't be there, again? Could it be because of our handsome college visitor right here?"

"Come on, Natsu. Relax," I hear Jellal's voice for the second time.

"Hmph," Natsu sighs, then laughs. The same laugh I heard multiple times the other day...

"Lucy-san?" Next to me, Juvia elbows my ribcage.

"Ouch, what?" I ask, rubbing my side.

"Juvia wants to know why Lucy-san is blushing furiously. Is she thinking of Gray- sama?? Love rival...?" she mutters under her breath.

"What, NO!" I exclaim, jumping up, forgetting we were in hiding.

"But Lucy-san!" Juvia stands up with me, also leaving the safety of the tree.

"Oh no-" I hear Gray murmur. "I'm gone. See you guys later." He picks up his food and walks away.

"Gray-sama! Wait for me!" Juvia squeals as she follows him.

"I've gotta get back to school, love." Jellal stands up.

"I'll walk you to the gate," Erza picks up her things, and they leave.

"He he, what do we have here?" I jump when I realize Mira was talking to me. "Spying with Juvia, huh? Lucy, the new girl. Are you joining his harem?"

"His what?" I ask, flustered.

"Or just Juvia's fanclub?"

"M- Mira, what are you talking about? I don't like Gray, I- I don't even know him." I try to defend myself, but Mira just laughs.

"Haha, that's ok. I don't ship you guys anyways." Mira's eyes get a certain demonic glint to them, and I can't help but shudder.

"Oi, Mira!" Laxus lifts his head as he calls his girlfriend.

"Coming!" Mira bounces away, and leaves with Laxus. Finally, I can breathe. The embarrassment doesn't subside, but at least I'm not being hounded anymore.

"Oof!" I jump when I hear someone trip behind me. I thought everyone had left?! I turn around to see who else but the pink haired loudmouth behind me. Suddenly, I get a little angry.

"Oi, Lucy," is all he says when he sees me. He looks around, like he's trying to find a way to avoid me.

"'Oi Lucy'!" I exclaim, gaining confidence walking up to him. "Is that all you have to say to me?" I feel my cheeks start to burn, and my voice gets a little louder.

"Hmm?" Natsu's arms are crossed, and he just looks down at me. The kids who were already hanging out in front of the dorms start to look over, but I don't stop.

"You're just going to barely acknowledge my presence now? I thought we were friends! I thought you had a heart." I turn away from Natsu. How could he be so cold, so distant?! He wasn't using the nickname he gave me when we first met, either... He was so sweet and innocent at the arcade, but I guess this is the real Natsu. The playboy Levy tried to warn me against.

Only one emotion pounds in my chest right now, and it's disappointment.

Hey guys sorry about the kind of strange chapter... It feels to me like this went a little fast, but the plans for this story in my head get a lot better!!

Also I've had a lot of school work recently, so I apologize if I'm not on top of my game.
