i waited on you for 20 years
i knew you would return
they stripped me of house and home
and raped my hospitality
and yet you came home to me
and i love you still
i meet you on a sinking ship
and we connected despite our
barrier
you whisper and tell me im yours
as you sink to the bottom of the sea
we're dancing in the green light
your arm pressed gently into mine
and my head on your shoulder
inside is music and loud voices
and out here is the ocean
and the crickets
but i feel loved
you're throwing rocks at my window
you lift a boom box and the serenade plays
i cave and let you in
you tell me im beautiful
we met in the city
and you saved me so many times
and failed just once
but i've forgiven you
so you can save the rest of the world
i was blonde
redheaded
brunette
im young and scared
or confident and feminine
and you have green eyes
or were they brown?
anyways
we are slow dancing in an empty crypt
awaiting the new journey
and you hold me as if you've known me
from infinite lifetimes
and i believe you
i saw you too,
every time
