An Awkward Encounter

The first thing Nova felt when she woke up was a slightly heavier marking on her hand than she remembered. Immediately glancing down, she saw some more scribbled handwriting that seemed, if it was even possible, messier than the first note. Seriously, what was the point of writing notes on your hand when you wouldn't even be able to read them? Nova sighed in annoyance but that didn't mean she didn't spend the next 30 minutes attempting to translate the messages on her hand.

Before she knew it, she was walking back into the school building. Her stars had long since become invisible and the sun glared down on her. She was so tired from her previous long night atop her roof that she struggled to focus on anything else that day. As she was walking into her 1st period class, her thoughts swirled with ideas on who her soulmate was. Did she know them? Were they older than her? Were they stupid? Oh god, what if they were stupid? What if they were really extroverted? What would she do then?

She was too consumed by her thoughts to notice that she had walked directly into something. She started to descend onto the floor and, in a panic, attempted to grab the closest thing so she could steady herself. But of course that couldn't happen. The closest thing she could grasp to prevent her fall was a backpack. A backpack that was attached to someone's back. And before she knew it, she was falling onto the floor, dragging the other person with her.

"Ouch!" Was the first word that came to her mind when she hit the floor, landing with a loud thud. That was definitely going to leave a bruise. Glancing around her to see if anyone else had noticed her embarrassing fall, she realised that class had started 5 minutes ago. Inwardly cursing at herself for allowing herself to be late, she attempted to get up. It was at this point that she realised she had dragged someone down with her and this person was currently laying on top of her.

The colour her face turned could actually rival the brightest tomato one could ever find. Oh god, this was so embarrassing. "I'm so sorry, are you okay?" Nova quickly spoke, trying to wiggle herself out from underneath this person.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay. It was my fault that you fell, I didn't realise I was in the way," the person spoke, in a very soft voice.

"No, no I wasn't looking where I was going and I bumped into you and dragged you down, god, I'm so sorry," Nova scrambled to explain herself, sounding very awkward as she did so.

After they had both successfully got up, they looked at each other. And by the name of all the stars in every galaxy was that the moment where Nova's heart skipped a beat. He was so.....pretty.
