Ray was vaguely aware of his surroundings, as he normally was, but at this moment, he didn't care where he was. The only thing that mattered to him was the girl in front of him. She was just so beautiful. Even the goddess of love herself would pale in comparison to the art that was standing in his presence. Ray felt a pull he couldn't quite explain. Was it fate? Attraction? Ray didn't know and, with a start, he realised that he didn't particularly care.
He was snapped back to reality when he heard the girl speak, "um, well I'm sorry again. And, uh, we should get to class."
Ray couldn't explain the wave of sadness he felt at that statement. This girl filled him with a sense of peace that he wasn't quite willing to let go of yet. Not that he showed that on his face as he awkwardly smiled and mumbled out, "oh, uh, yeah. I'm sorry too."As the girl began to turn away, Ray caught a glimpse of familiar swirls of purple. Before he could stop himself, he gasped out, "that drawing." The girl stopped and offered a confused look. You idiot. Face turning red, Ray elaborated, "on your wrist."
"Oh, um I like space," she stated and Ray struggled to restrain his chuckle at her bluntness. Now it was her turn to turn red. She's cute when she blushes, Ray noted.
"I mean, I like to draw the galaxies when I get bored. Did you recognize it?" It was a simple question, but Ray couldn't bring himself to answer. The only possible explanation for this fact was that they were soulmates. He'd never spoken to this girl before, and yet, here they stood with the same galaxy drawn in the same space on both of their wrists. Wordlessly, he raised his jumper's sleeve to reveal his matching expression of her apparent love for stars.
Ray watched as the acknowledgement flickered over the girl's features before he caught her glancing at her hand. Following her line of sight, Ray's thoughts were confirmed when he saw his messy scrawl of a reminder written on her hand.
If the situation wasn't awkward before, it definitely was now. They were soulmates. And yet, they didn't even know each other's names.
