part fourteen

December 6th

Aurora

I scan the airport for Lexi and Jason. I just got back from Boston and they said they were free to pick me up. Spending time in Boston with Alex and Nick relieved me from a lot of stress. I stayed longer than I intended but there was no denying I needed to get away from New York for a while. Also, it was the most time I spent with Alex in forever.

I finally spot Lexi as she stands on her toes looking over people's heads to find me. I wave my hand and her smiles goes big. I rush to her trying to avoid crashing into other people. When I get to Lexi I engulf her in a hug. We sway side to side as we hug and she kissed the side of my face.

"Ro, I missed you so much," Lexi says, her words muffled by my hair.

"I missed you too, Lexi."

Jason clears his throat, "When did I become invisible?"

I giggle and let go of Lexi and give Jason a hug.

"Anytime Lex is around."

He chuckles as he lets go of me then messes up my hair.

"Okay, fair enough."

He takes my suitcase from me and we head to their car. Lexi takes ahold of my hand and squeezes. We texted everyday and I sent her pictures of literally everything but it's not the same as being here with her. We were apart for six years so it hurts me anytime either of us have to go out of the city without the other.

"How was Boston, Ro? Alex and Nick doing okay?" Jason asks, placing my suitcase in the trunk of his car.

"Boston was amazing. I ate great food, met good people. Alex and Nick are even more in love than ever. They won that big case from September and Alex will be hired full time once he passes the bar."

"Oh my god, that's incredible," Lex shrieks as we get into the car. "Babe, hurry and turn on the heater. I'm freezing."

"Can't have that now, can we?" Jason says leaning over and giving Lexi a quick kiss.

She giggles and he turns on the car, making sure the heater is on all it goes. I spent a little over a week in Boston and I didn't want to leave it so soon. Yet, now that I'm back, all my worries come crashing down. I can't help but regret spending so long in Boston because it took a toll on my savings. I knew I had to be careful about the money I was spending but I couldn't help it.

Lex and Jason question me about the trip, taking me away from my thoughts. I tell them everything. From Alex slipping on ice and spilling his latte on himself in front of a huge crowd to what I ate for breakfast.

When they drop me off at my apartment, I rush to get out of the cold and into a warm shower. I unlock my apartment door and toss my keys on the island counter. I take off my jacket and shake off some of the snow. I put my shoes by the door and turn on my heater. I go straight to my fridge and smile as I see Harry did in fact clean out my fridge and restock it.

I grab my phone and send him a picture of me with a thumbs up in front of the restocked fridge. Under it I put: My hero. I'm starving

I put my phone down and see Harry has my mail stacked on the island counter. I grab the first envelope and see that rent is due tomorrow. A part of me panics and I quickly grab my phone to check my bank account. My heart sinks a little when I see it's lower than I'd like it to be. I am about to cry when there is a knock on my door. I furrow my eyebrows and head to the door. I look through the peephole and see it's Harry.

I swing the door open and he greets me with one of his dimpled smiles. I fling my arms around his neck and he stumbles back a little, putting one hand on my waist to stabilize us. He chuckles and kisses my cheek.
