They had been walking for a while now, and James still had both arms over the shoulders of Teresa and Alexie.

"What happened to you anyway?" Teresa asked, readjusting James' arm.

"There was-" James took in a sharp breath.

Alexie continued for him. "There was that blonde girl. She was dressed like she stepped out of the wrong time frame. She sprayed some kind of smoke, then James lit it on fire. It was hard to see anything, I lost James in the flames." Alexie cooked his sideways to look at Teresa. "She had a strange whip, it-"

"It glowed orange." James finished, nodding his head.

"I don't know where she came from," Alexie said frowning. "I've never seen her before."

"I don't think she has any magic," said Teresa quickly.

Alexie looked back at her. "Why?"

Teresa shook her head. "I don't know. I just didn't feel like it. Her whip was either powered by electricity or someone else's magic."

Alexie looked ahead. "I don't if that's possible."

"Ah." James winced and stumbled. "I need to stop."

They found a skinny alley way, and set him down beside a dumpster. They all gathered around him. Peter started to pace.

"Ah." James winced again, as Alexie and Teresa tried stetting him down gently.

"It might be broken," suggested Peter.

"Hm," James breathed. "Yes, I was thinking the same things a while ago." He readjusted and looked up at Alexie. "You're awfully clam about it," he said.

Teresa was crouched down beside James. She was rolling up him pant-leg. There was a deep cut, and the leg shape looked definitely off.

Teresa ran her finger down James' leg very lightly. "There has to be a way to heal it with magic. You guys seen to be able to do tons of things." She looked at Peter. "Well?" she asked impatiently.

Peter shook his head. "Nothing that any of us can do." He looked a Teresa, and dropped his hand from his chin. "Not even you, if you could use your magic properly."

James looked at Teresa, at sparkle in his eyes. "You used it again?"

Teresa nodded. "Yes. Kind of."

"She blasted a ranger through a wall through a wall." Tep's raspy voice said from behind. She was sitting on some stairs from the opposite building. "Genius if you ask me." The sarcasm in her voice was very obvious. "Now they'll know just where to start their next search party. Where there is a big hole in the wall." She glared down at Teresa.

Teresa stood up and was about to make a smart remark to Tep. But then James' voice interrupted her.

"Show me," he said. He looked like a little kid again.

"I can't always get it to work," Teresa said, looking down.

"Try," James encouraged.

Teresa sighed and put her hands together. She slowly separated them, and some odd purple sand appeared, peeking out from under her hands. She separated them fully, it faded then came back, it did so several times.

"Woah." There was a small laugh playing about his mouth.

Teresa crouched down to give James a closer look. "I don't know what will happen if you touch it."

"Hm." James reached out, and quickly stuck the tips of his fingers into it. Nothing happened.

Teresa closed her hand, and the ball disappeared. "Why- I just said I don't know what would have a happened!"
