It was a week after the fire.

There was two weeks until summer break.

Teresa was currently in art class, crumpling up yet another piece of paper.

"Anything yet?" asked a voice behind her.

Teresa knew who it was instantly; it was her best friend; Bridget. "No," groaned Teresa, "I told you I'm not good at putting what's up here-" she said pointing to her head, "onto here." She ripped another paper from her school sketchbook, and slumped in her chair.

They were supposed to draw something that they love. The work in art class has been boring and very straight forward, ever since their actual art teacher, Mr. Davidson, was on an early summer vacation. Teresa cannot draw. She tried drawing her and Simon, but her drawing people was not going to happen. Simon was her brother, seven years old, and definitely the thing she loved most in the world. "Drawing anything at all... not going to happen," said Teresa, throwing her arms in the air.

"Come on. You're so creative, you're always scribbling something down whenever I see you in class," said Bridget, pulling up a chair across from Teresa.

"When I'm scribbling, I'm writing, not drawing, not sketching, and certainly not writing out what I love most in this world." Teresa was counting on her fingers. "You're the one that's good at art.'" Teresa sat up and leaned across the desk towards Bridget, who leaned in close. "Besides," she said, "I can't be good at writing, music, fighting and drawing. There would be nothing left for you." Teresa smirked, and leaned back against her chair.

Bridget rolled her eyes and dropped down into her seat. "You do realize there are plenty of other things in this world than; writing, music, fighting and drawing, yes?"

Teresa through a paper into the garbage can across the room, it went in. "Meh." she said, shrugging.

When Teresa said fighting, she actually meant fighting. When Teresa was five, she joined karate, when she got bored with that at age eight, her dad started to teacher her how to wrestle. Soon, Teresa started to learn different defenses and punches. When she started grade ten, Teresa joined the wrestling team, but quit in grade eleven. She wasn't big and muscular, she was average height for a teenage girl, and a healthy size. If you look at her, you wouldn't think that she could defend herself, or even punch someone and make them fall over, by herself.

Teresa always thought it would be cool to learn how to fight as they did in the books she read. She would read of them fighting with bow and arrows, with swords and daggers, and sometimes magic. Whenever Teresa would talk about these things, Bridget would roll her eyes and say something like; 'look where we live T,' or 'you'll never need to use daggers here!' Sometimes even; 'Teresa, stop reading for a while won't you. I think you might go mad; you don't live there.'

Bridget herself, had blonde curly hair and blue eyes, she was a little taller than Teresa. She was always trying to find the positive side to everything. Bridget also happened to be an amazing artist. She was also great at sports, well Teresa wouldn't say great, neither of them were really great at sports, but Bridget was better at shooting hoops and kicking soccer balls. Sure, Teresa did join the cross-country team once... she wasn't necessarily good at it, but she wasn't too bad.

When Teresa actually thought about it, her and Bridget were quite opposite. Teresa loved to talk, and Bridget would listen. Teresa was the writer and Bridget was the artist. Bridget hated to travel and go on planes, trains, even boats, for fear of getting sick. Teresa has never been on a plane, her family could never afford traveling for fun, Teresa was always wondering how they could afford to live in LA if they can't even travel at least once every three years. She loved the thought of moving out of LA and going somewhere else, she thought Greece looked pretty fun. Bridget was an only child, and Teresa is from a family of five... Only two now.
