Cristina POV

I can't believe my eyes.
Tris is dead. How can she be here? She's dead.
But she's alive.
I was shopping in the front of the mall. The front bell rang, indication that someone had walked in the store. I turned around, and suddenly a ton of guards pile on top of someone, and I'm unable to see the person they attacked. By the time they contain this person, and they are restrained and on their knees, there is a crowd around the scene. I push my way to the front

Then I see what I never believed I would ever see again.

Tris.

She was dressed in all black, like what she was wearing at initiation. Her hair hasn't grown much, it's a little under her shoulders. She was so pale, and her once piercing blue eyes were now a faded grey. I almost didn't notice her.

She was so weak, and worn out. She fell to her knees and dropped her gun. The fire I once knew her to have was now burned out.

"Tris?" I said, as she started crying,

I dropped my shopping bags, and she looked up, mouth wide open.

She was about to say something, I think. She started to mumble something out, saliva covering her lips. Then she just fell forward. Right onto her stomach, from her knees. As she collapsed, I saw a man standing behind her, holding a tranquilizer gun up to her back.

I stepped closer to Tris, and as I had thought, there was a tranquilizer bullet smack between her collarbones.

I wanted to fight those guards, and I almost did. But I thought of a smarter, more peaceful approach.

"My sister!" I yelled.

The guards shook their heads in confusion.

"She has some mental issues, and I need to take her home right now. I have no idea how she escaped!"

The guards whispered to eachother, and glanced back at me. I could tell they were half believing the story. I had to be more believable.

"Oh my goodness!" I shrieked, "what did you do to her?! Poor girl must've been confused out of her mind!"

"Yeah, yeah. Save the sobs. Take this girl back home, and put her on some meds or something, she's crazy." He snarled, and kicked Tris' gun across the room.

I glared at him as I reached into my back pocket for my cell phone.

I dialed Peter's number. There was no way I could get Tris back to the apartment by myself.

The guard moved Tris outside, and sat her upright on a bench, just as Peter pulled up in his beat-up truck. He was speeding. I could tell he was eager to see if it was really Tris, as he jumped out of his truck the minute he put it in park.

He ran around his truck to the side of the streetwalk. We worked together to get Tris in the backseat, and it wasn't really hard because of how much weight she had lost in the past 3 weeks. Peter muttered under his breath in disbelief as he pulled onto the street. I didn't blame him. I was shocked as well.

It only took 5 minutes to get back to the apartment. I had walked to the store, but it was the best choice to not carry Tris that 1/2 mile. As we pulled up the the apartment, I remembered Tobias. How would he react to this? He will be shocked, but I think he will be happy.
After all, Tris' death is what made him go nuts in the first place.what if he thinks it's a simulation? Maybe he'll go back to normal after he sees that she's alive.

She's alive. But how? We saw her dead body in the autopsy room. How is this even possible. Now I start to wonder, am I in a simulation? No, not possible. They terminated all serums, and all factions after The Bureau was discovered.

I stopped myself from thinking. One terrible thought led to another.

"Peter." I say. "We need to make sure Tobias doesn't know about Tris. Not until she wakes up"

"Yeah." He agrees. "The last thing I would want is for him to go berserk again. Because you'll just throw me in the room with him like fresh bait."

He manages a sly smile and I see him glance over at me. I force a laugh.

We get out of the car and take Tris. I live on the 12th floor, so good thing there's an elevator. The elevator takes longer than usual, I think, but this is just because I am anticipating getting Tris safe. Everything is safe now, but the way we were all raised in factions, it just seems so not secure. No rules to follow, no people to imitate. It's kinda scary being your own person.

The elevator makes a ding sound and the doors open, I look over at the elevator buttons. The 12th floor button is blinking green, which means that's the floor we're on.

We carry her down the hallway. We reached my door, and I wrangle my keys out of my pocket, and struggle to unlock the door with one hand.

Peter sees me struggling, so he takes Tris from me, and carries her by himself. He's done it before, when they faked her death past Jeanine, but there's less adrenaline in him this time, so you can tell he struggles a bit.

I manage to unlock the door with shaky hands, and Peter carries her through the front door, into my large apartment. He lays her on the large couch, and I run to the kitchen to cook up some soup.

I walk out into the front room, where Peter sits next to Tris. She now has a blanket draped over her, and I can tell Peter is happy that she is alive, even though he would never state it himself. I set down the steaming soup on the table in front of the couch, when we hear a door creak open down the hall.

Tobias.

His footsteps echo through my veins, even though he is barefoot. As he reaches the end of the hallway, Tris starts to awaken. She is groggy, but bounces back fast. She immediately sits up, and jumps off the couch. She is alarmed, and afraid, and she frantically runs toward the glass windows, overlooking the city. She is a blur as she runs past Tobias, and he stops in his tracks.

Tris cries and pounds on the glass. She doesn't realize what's going on.

"Tris!" I run to her. "It's ok Tris! It's alright." By now we're both sitting on the ground, me cradling her head in my arm as she sobs.

I look up. Tobias is frozen in front of us.
