after a term of hard work both in and out of school, you finally let yourself relax. by relax you meant facetime your best friend from back home to see how she's going, as well as all your other friends.
it was hard trying to find a time that suited you both but once you had it sorted out and her face popped up on your laptop screen, you couldn't help but get excited.
sure, you weren't completely out of contact with people from back home. once every fortnight you called your parents for "international family dinner."
being able to talk to lou was a god send. seeing her smiling face light up your screen made you feel like a weight had be lifted off your chest. the few people you'd met in your classes (and peter) were cool but nothing could beat the way you connected with lou.
you could talk to her for hours. and you did just that. you told her about school and the few people you met. you told her about peter and the way his eyes light up when he talks about his interests. the way he blushes when he gets nervous.
you even told her about spiderman and what happened with him.
"you met spiderman?" she squealed. you grinned at her.
"he saved me." she squealed again, happily clapping.
"you're so lucky! i wish i had of come with you." you giggle and stuck your tongue out at her.
"no. it's ok. i embarrassed myself in front of him then walked off."
she laughed.
you were about to respond when someone knocked on your door, you were expecting to be one of your neighbours telling you to shut up.
you got up, not bothered to mute the call, expecting whoever was knocking to leave after you opened the door.
you open the door just enough so you can peer out at whatever dickhead has disturbed your very, very important call.
peter frowned at you. his brown doe eyes were glassy and he wasn't as energetic as normal. you pulled the door open fully and put a hand on his shoulder, in an attempt to soothe him.
"i'm on call with my friend lou, i thought you were some dickwad here to tell me to be quiet."
"lou?"
it wasn't hard to hear lou's horrible attempt at trying to keep quiet through your laptop. peter glanced over at it. from the look on lou's face she was obviously mentally squealing over the man who'd shown up unannounced at your door.
"lou, this is peter." she was a blushing mess as she stared at the man on her screen. she awkwardly waved at him and peter returned it.
you quickly muted yourself and looked over at peter.
"are you ok? do you need anything?" you offered him a bottle of water and a sympathetic smile.
"i had a rough day. wanted to see your face."
"you're welcome to hang around for a bit but, i'm not hanging up on lou."
"of course." he nodded.
you sat on your bed and moved around your laptop so you could lean on your bed head and still see lou. you unmuted.
you could tell she was about to ask something about peter. you knew what the look on her face meant and what was going to happen if he didn't sit down next to you quick enough.
you looked at him then patted the space next to you, trying to get him to hurry up before lou spilled out whatever inappropriate question she had.
he sat down and you felt like you could breathe again. she mumbled something under her breath, something you knew was dirty and definitely about the fact that peter was in your bed.
you looked over at him. he was staring at your laptop but his head was clearly somewhere else. you really wanted to comfort him but you didn't know how.
lou was chatting away about something your friend elih had done that got the group kicked out of yet another restaurant and other stupid stories about dumb things everyone was doing.
you grabbed peter's hand and gave it a soft squeeze making sure it was out of frame.
after a couple more minutes of lou talking non stop and peter looking like a sad puppy, you said goodbye to lou and hung up.
after carefully closing your laptop you turned to face peter, still holding his hand.
"are you ok?"
he glanced over at you, then at your hands. he was chewing the bottom of his lip, something you had never seen him do before.
"i don't know." you looked up at him. if you could, you'd give this man the world. moving your hand slightly to give yourself more room, you began to rub small circles onto his hand.
"do you want to talk about it?" he shook his head, his hand squeezing yours.
"can i hug you?" the last thing you wanted to do was make him uncomfortable, but your also wanted to hold him and make sure he was ok.
he nodded softly and moved closer to you, resting his head on your chest, wrapping his arms around your waist. you moved slightly to wrap one of your arms around him the other one going to draw patterns and play with his hair.
by the time both of you got comfortable he had one of his legs between yours and his head was resting on your breasts. it was nice holding him, being able to run your fingers through his hair without it being weird. your leg that he had his weight on was quickly falling asleep, but you just wanted him to be ok.
you opened your eyes and found peter still snuggled into you. he had fallen asleep and you assumed you had too.
you began tracing shapes on his back through his t shirt. the lean muscles on his back didn't go unnoticed to you but no wasn't the time.
he woke up not long after you. sunlight was streaming in through your window, casting a golden glow on everything it could reach.
his grip around your waist momentarily tightened and you looked down at him.
"feeling better?" he nodded then buried his face in your chest, trying to get rid of the drowsiness from just waking up. you smiled at him and gently ran your fingers through his hair.
he left go of you. the loss of contact almost made you whine. he rubbed on of his eyes with the palm of his hand.
it was weird seeing peter while he was like this. he was usually making smart ass comments and being bit of a pain in your ass. it hurt seeing him upset.
you wanted to ask what was bothering him but you also didn't want to force him.
"gwen." you looked down at him. who's gwen? why is he calling you gwen?
"who?"
"gwen. i lost her 6 years ago. it still hurts. i love, i loved her." you pulled him back into you, holding him as close as you could.
"i'm sure she's proud of you." your heart hurt, he was still in love with someone else. you were just the stupid rebound.
"i hope she is." he snuggled into you again. you were positive that after this it was going to be a little awkward.
"if it makes any difference, i'm proud of you."
