2014, April

"And then, we'll subtract it by two..."

This is pure torture... I let out a breath as I jot down everything on the board.

"And then... we'll get the answer which is 1123."

I drop my pencil and lean back in my chair. From the corner of my eyes, I can see some movement on my right. I turn my head and see San dozing off.

"Hey," I shake San's arm, "San, open your eyes."

"Huh?" San turns his head to look at me, his eyes barely open. "Was I sleeping?"

"Hmm, yea. Pretty much," I nod, looking back at the board. I clutch unto my stomach as I feel a sharp pain. Ugh... it has started.

Then, the school bell rings, making San jump up in his seat.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow. Don't forget to review today's lessons," our math teacher says as she walks out of the classroom.

"Man, that felt like forever," San lets out a low groan as he stretches his arms.

"You slept through half of it," I dig my elbow in my stomach as the pain gets worse.

"Still..." San pouts. He then stands up and stretches more. "All that math formulas made me hungry... Wanna go and get something to eat?"

"No, go by yourself," I shake my head. "I don't feel well..."

"Hmm? Why?" he sits down again. "What's wrong? Want me to take you to the infirmary?"

"No... It's not that bad."

"Then what's wrong?"

"Uh..." I bite my lip as I look at him. Should I tell him? But it's so...

"What is it?" he stares at me, the worried look on his face tells me that he won't go away until he gets an answer.

"Um..." I look around and see that no boy is nearby, "I'm on my period..." I say in a very small voice, hoping that he didn't hear me.

"Oh..." he looks away.

I look away as well as I feel my face get hot. He heard it... This is embarrassing!

"I'l be right back," San gives me a small smile and goes away.

I can't believe I actually told him... Letting out a low groan, I rest my head on the desk. I clutch even tighter unto my stomach as the pain doesn't go away. Why did it have to start first thing in the morning? This isn't good...

I close my eyes, letting out a sigh. At least today is Friday... I'm home for the next two days. I think I have to go home early... I can't stay for the extra classes. I'll call Mom later. For now, I'll try to sleep until the next class.

While I'm busy trying to make myself comfortable so that I can sleep, I hear quick footsteps that stop right beside me. I look up when I hear some shuffling sounds and see that San is already back. He's sitting in his seat and panting hard. Did he run?

"I got your favorite chocolate bread and chocolate milk," he points to the stuff on his desk.

My eye light up and my mouth begins to water as San pushes the chocolate bread and milk onto my desk, "how did you know these were my favorite?"

"Lucky guess?" San chuckles. "This is the only thing I've seen you eat aside from lunch during this past month."

"Oh... right," I let out an embarrassed laugh. Can I really eat them though? He bought them with his own money...
