2015, April

"Yena's running a bit late today..." I look at my watch and see that it's 7:34. She always comes out of her house at 7:30 so I can't help but get worried.

I slightly jump when I hear the sound of the door being opened. I turn to Yena and smile at her, "good morning."

"Morning," she gives me a small smile and looks down as she starts walking.

Something feels wrong... I slightly pout and follow her inside the elevator.

"Sorry, I kept you waiting," Yena pushes the elevator button and the door closes. "I stayed in the bathroom a bit longer than usual," she mumbles but I hear her.

"It's alright, don't worry."

The elevator stops and we get out. As we walk out of the apartment, I look around like always. Ever since what happened to Yena last year, I began observing our surrounding more carefully. Thankfully, I haven't seen that bastard again. Unfortunately, there are many others who stare at her. Sure, Yena is really pretty but that doesn't mean they can check her out like that! It's so rude... not to mention creepy.

We reach the bus stop and Yena immediately leans against one of the poles. I noticed that Yena walked a bit slower than usual today. I also notice that her hand is on her stomach... Could this mean...?

Our bus arrives and Yena stands straight, ready to get on. I turn to her and reach my hand out.

"Let me hold your bag."

"It's fine..."

"Let me hold it for you," I grab her backpack's strap and pull it off from her shoulders. I hold her bag with my left hand and slightly push her forward with my right hand.

I let her get on first and follow closely behind. As we scan our cards, I take a look inside and sigh when I see that there aren't any empty seats. Poor Yena...

After scanning the cards, we begin walking but the bus suddenly starts moving. I manage to quickly grab the handle before I fall and thankfully, Yena falls unto me instead of falling unto someone else. Her head hits my left shoulder and it honestly hurts but I have to pretend it doesn't.

"Sorry..." Yena mumbles as I help her stand straight again.

"It's alright," I smile at her. I chuckle a bit when I see her struggling to reach the handle. I put her bag beside my foot and grab another handle with my other hand. "Hold unto my arm."

"O--okay..." she slowly brings her hand up and holds my arm. At first, her grip is light but it tightens when the driver stops the bus.

I've done this for Haneul and Mom before... But why is my face heating up?

The two of us stand stiffly like that until we reach our stop. I pick up Yena's bag and then make her go first before following her. As we get off the bus, Yena turns to me and reaches her hand out.

"Let me take my bag from here on."

"No," I hug her bag tightly to make sure she can't take it, "I'll carry it for you until we get to your classroom."

She stares at me for a while before letting out a sigh, "fine." She turns around and starts walking toward school.

I press my lips together and join her. Since she's walking slower than usual, I reach her after taking just two steps. As we're walking in a slower pace than usual, it takes us longer to reach school. We continue walking in silence and reach our classes a minute before the bell rings.

"Thanks," Yena gives me another small smile as she takes her bag. She waves at me and then goes inside.

I press my lips in a thin line as I wave at her back. Then, I turn to my classroom and get inside right before the bell rings. I quickly run to my desk and sit down right as the homeroom teacher comes in.
