Chapter 30: Love Does Not Choose

- 1 Month Later -

Luciana let out a deep sigh after signing her last paper work. It's already 3 in the morning but the raven-haired lady is still awake.

She pulled an all-nighter just to finish the pile of paper works that Erwin gave to her. Cian kept all her paper works to the side and made sure that her table is clear before leaving.

She doesn't plan to sleep anymore. It's useless, anyway. She needs to be up and get ready at exactly 5 A.M. because she's in-charge of leading the daily exercise training of the cadets.

Luciana stood up and did some basic stretching. While doing so, she keeps on yawning her sleepiness. Luciana shook her head and gently slapped her face to keep herself awake.

Even though she also want to sleep, she knows she still can't. Her insomia seems to be coming back. No. It already came back. After what happened to her, Luciana can't sleep in peace anymore. And the fact that they're already near the time to reclaim wall Maria, is not helping at all. Her stress, worries and concerns broight her insomia back.

Luciana almost jumped out of shock when someone knocked on her door. She immediately picked up her pistol that's attached under her table.

Luciana held onto it but she kept her hands on her back. She walked towards the door and held the door knob while her other hand is behind her and holdinh her pistol.

"Name and business?" Luciana asked.

"Tch. You're awake. It's Levi."

Luciana sighed in relief upon hearing her brother's voice. She opened the door and saw Levi holding a tray with two cups of black tea. "Morning." Levi said and walked in inside Cian's office.

Luciana closed the door. She turned to Levi who sat on the couch after putting the two tea cups on the table.
The raven-haired captain raised a brow upon noticing the pistol on Luciana's hand. He just chose not to say anything. "Sit down and have some tea. I know you're tired."

Luciana quietly nod. She kept her pistol on her back. Her jacket covering it from being exposed.

"Can't sleep?" Luciana asked. She sat on the other couch and picked up the other black tea. She blew on it and sipped on her tea, then smiled.

Tea is always so delicious...

"Do you still have nightmares?" Levi asked making Luciana to look at him.

Worries overtook Luciana when she saw the visible dark-circles under Levi's eyes. "I do...it gotten worse after what happened." Luciana said.

Levi let out a deep sigh. "Sleep in my room if you can't sleep alone. I'll wake you up if you're having a nightmare."

"How about you?" Luciana asked.

Levi didn't answer. He just keep on drinking his tea. Luciana frowned. She put down her tea on the table. "Are you worried? Is it because we're already near the time to operate the  retaking of wall Maria?" Cian asked.

Levi nod quietly. "I am. I'm anxious about that operation. I know we've always suffered heavy losses...but I'm even more sure that we'll suffer more heavily for that operation. We could even...lose someone important to us."

Luciana already knows. She knows who's Levi talking about. Erwin.

The commander have always been important to the both of them, especially to Levi. Erwin was the one who gave them the new reason to live after their heartbreak of losing Isabel and Furlan. Erwin gave them hope.
