Chapter 40: Dream

A deep sigh came out from Luciana's mouth. She put all her finished paper works on the side and exhaustedly leaned on her table. It's already late at night but Luciana's still awake, she helped Levi in some of his paper works since her brother's busy with their small expeditions in wall Maria.

*Knock* *Knock*

Luciana looked at the door when someone knocked. Her brows furrowed. She's wondering who could it be, it's already late, she doubts that other soldiers are still awake. Except for her, Levi and Hange who loves stayinh up late. "Name and business?"

"Your future husband."

Luciana chuckled upon hearing Jean's voice. "Come in, horse-face."

The door opened and Jean showed up, carrying Lucy who's awake. Luciana was surprised because her baby girl is still awake. Luciana stood up and walked towards Jean and Lucy. "Why is she still awake?" Luciana asked.

Jean frowned. "She's a mama's girl, Luciana. You know she won't sleep unless you're with her." Jean said.

Lucy reached for Luciana. The raven-haired lady took her daughter and carried her. Lucy leaned her head on Luciana's shoulder and started sucking her thumb, the baby girl slowly felt herself feeling sleepy in her mother's comforting presence.

Jean placed his hand on the small of Luciana's back, he led her to sit back on her chair. "Do you want some tea? I can make you one." Jean said.

He's leaning on the edge of Luciana's table and staring at his fiancé and daughter. A smile crept onto Jean's lips because of how beatiful Luciana is while she's holding a baby. "I'm fine. Aren't you sleepy? You should go and rest now. It's already late. You still have to wake up early tomorrow and go to another expedition." Cian said.

Jean shook his head. He brushed off some of Luciana's thin strands of hair and put it behind her ears. "Let me stay here with you for a while." Jean smiled upon seeing Lucy's sleeping.

He gently caressed Lucy's raven soft hair. "Why did you name her Lucy? Isn't that the nickname I gave to you?"

Luciana leaned her head on the backrest of her chair. She closed her eyes and smiled a bit. "It's a beautiful nickname. Thought it would suit her."

Jean stared at Luciana, she's been back in the survey corps for 2 weeks already, and Jean could tell that Cian's really doing fine. She's back in her normal superior soldiers to cadets.

Luciana doesn't go to any expeditions, she stays in the headquarters doing paper works, training the new recruits and just staying on stand-by.
The first expedition she'll go to after her six months of leave, is their first ever expedition beyond the walls.

"Then why did you think od adopting Lucy?" Jean asked.

Luciana slowly opened her eyes.

She stared at the ceiling with a soft stare. "Because I don't want her to be abandoned...I know how that feels, the feeling of being abandoned at such a you g age. I don't want Lucy to be alone. And...she's just so cute."

Jean let out a sigh and nod. Then he chuckled because of Luciana's last sentence. "So you can't resist cute kids?" Jean asked in a teasing voice.

Luciana raised a brow at him. She frowned then rolled her eyed. "Shut up, Jean. I know you'll start acting like an adorable kid." Luciana said.

It only made Jean to laugh. Luciana hissed and kicked his ankle to stop him from laughing because Lucy might wake up. "Sorry..." Jean said, still laughing, but in a low tone now.
