Right after Sumeru the three returned back to Inazuma where they gotten themselves involved in a commission to take out rift hounds that are attacking the roots of the sacred Sakura.

The three head there and took cared of some, but two rift houndlings came at them while Alex has the two girls behind him to protect until Ei came and finished them off.

Paimon: S–Shogun? Wait no... Could it also be Ei?

Ei turns around and recognized the three.

Ei: Oh it's you three.

Alex: Yep it's definitely Ei.

Ei: It's has been a long time. We haven't see each other since we'll only Alex when we handled the Tenryrou commission crysis.

Lumine: (Stern voice) Alex, explain?

Alex: Uh...

Paimon: You sure made short work on them, that was amazing!

The three with Ei look for any rift hounds following the saps that were left from the Sakura's roots.

Upon in the search the four found a root split open as the sap released a mist which reveals spirits of samurais.
The four interact with one of the spirit which they learned that it was a memory that took place during the collapse.

Then after the first spirit memory ended they took care of the second group of rift hounds, until they encountered someone Ei knows which was from a memory of the collapse.

Alex, Lumine and Paimon play along in a act that the spirit was in his memory, they then gone to get some tea from the Kamisato estate when they gotten back they found the sport not there given that the memory ended.

The four decided to have tea after they gone through getting it to find that they haven't got the chance with the spirit.

Ei tell the three more on the collapse and explain how Makoto really died, in which she head for Khaenri'ah by herself with out telling Ei. When Ei got there she was too late, Ei have her last talk with Makoto in her mind and after Ei returned to Inazuma she saw a tree sprout to life which became the sacred Sakura.

The four move on to search more rift hounds, they found the last group which Ei told the three she'll handle them herself.

Ei fight the rift hounds but her body in several occasions froze like in stasis which made Alex concerned.
