Starlene woke up and carefully made her way into the kitchen. She was still completely drained from all the events of yesterday and was hungry from the lack of eating. Walking carefully into the kitchen the young girl was greeted to the sight of her mother sitting at the table with a cup of tea reading the paper.

"Morning Mum."

Polly looked up from her paper and was shocked to see her daughter standing infront of her.

"Star, my love, you should be lying down." Polly put down her paper and got up from the kitchen table to help her daughter sit down.

"I know, mum, but I wanted to be with you this morning. I'm sorry."

Polly leaned down and kissed her daughter on the forehead, "You don't have to apologize, love. If I had known you were up I would've came into the family room to be with you."

"Well, I'm up and here now. Where's Ada?"

"Still asleep. Maybe if she wasn't running around all hours of the night with Freddie Thorn than she would actually get some rest."

"I don't see the need to run around with a boy all the time. It seems like a waste."

Polly laughed at her daughter's remark grateful she hadn't taken a sip of her tea yet.

"Oh, sweetheart, as much as I would love for you to keep that mindset, unfortunately one day you'll be running around with some boy too. With luck a decent one that won't lead you down a rabbit hole of gangs and communism."

"I don't think so mum. I don't think boys will like me when i'm older."

Polly took a sip of her tea before replying, "Why's that, Star?"

The girl shrugged her shoulders, "I couldn't tell ya if I'd tried mum. It's just a feeling I have."

"Like with Ada?" Polly asked becoming more curious but also slightly concerned.

"No, Ada's feeling is different. Very different."

"How, my love?"

"She always feels full of energy when i'm around her. She's very vibrant but last night I noticed a calmness also with her. I guess a gentle, subtle energy with her, but somehow not her. Maybe my head got hurt worse than I thought." Starlene drifted off.

Polly decided to not push Starlene anymore about it after she noticed the young girl growing tired. Instead the mother daughter duo sat in peaceful silence. Starlene started getting lost in her thoughts while her mother read the paper.

A few moments went by until Ada finally joined them in the kitchen. The Shelby girl was talking to her aunt while Starlene was still lost in her mind over all the coppers had said. She wanted to know more about Officer Jones and why that name sent her mother into shock almost when she said it. Those thoughts were interrupted when her mother told Ada to stand up, side on.

Starlene watched as Polly grabbed her cousin's breast. Long story short after her mother questioned Ada about iron pills and them not working they realize that she was pregnant.

"Starlene said she felt something different in you and picked up on it before I even noticed." Polly spoke as she sat back down.

"What does that mean, Pol?" Ada asked still shocked about what her aunt had discovered.

"It means Star over here sense the baby, is what i'm putting together."

Ada sat down next to her cousin, "Guess the gypsy magic really does run in the family, huh? Or well gets drawn to our family."

Starlene look over at her cousin, "Gets drawn to?"

Polly shot her niece a glare that could kill. Everyone in the family knows that Starlene is to not know she is adopted. Clementina wanted Polly to raise Star as her own and Polly wanted to honor her wishes but also deep down she wished she was Star's biological mother. The Gray woman's biggest fear was if Star would ever found out the truth that her daughter would resent her and leave. She hated lying and felt hypocritical at times for being so strict about telling the truth and not having secrets kept from her by her daughter, but in Polly's mind this was for the best. She couldn't bare to lose her baby.

Ada quickly shoved more of the bread and jam she was eating into her mouth afraid to speak anymore.

"What Ada means is that not everyone in our family has "gifts" like you seem to do and I have, my love. So it's more given to only certain family members instead of passed down genetically to everyone."

"Oh, ok. I guess that makes sense. May I be excused, I don't feel well, mum." Starlene felt like something else was going on. The tension between Polly and Ada was noticeable and it wasn't from the pregnancy discovery. Ada clearly said something that set her mother off. Why would her cousin say drawn to and then Polly immediately get tense from it?

"Of course, Star. Let's try to get you up to bed where you can be more comfortable." Polly got up and started to help her daughter out of the kitchen.

"We will have a talk when I come back." Polly said quietly but sharply to Ada which Starlene heard.

What was happening with her family?

A/N: Not the best chapter but my birthday was three almost 4 days ago now and I wanted to get something out for everyone since it had been a few days since I updated. I know I didn't add dialogue from the actual episode where Polly discovers Ada is pregnant but I honestly didn't want to write the entire script. Plus I wanted to move the story along a bit. Anyway, hope you enjoyed.
