Ada waited for what felt like eternity outside of her aunt's house. She kept thinking back to the day Starlene was taken. She should've gone to the school immediately after she knew Freddy was safe. She should've at least asked one of the boys to go get her, but instead Ada decided to celebrate the Peaky Blinder's victory with her husband and get wasted at the Garrison. The worst was when she lied to Polly.
Polly was sitting inside the Garrison after going toe to toe with Grace. She made sure the backstabbing barmaid knew that she would never be welcomed in her family, if Tommy decided to ever take her back. Grace had been spying on the family on behalf of Campbell but unfortunately, for the young blonde, her heart got stolen by a bloody gangster. She may have pulled the wall over everyone's eyes, especially Tommy, but not Polly. No, she saw through her helpless girl act immediately. Tommy was heartbroken and Polly did what she knew how to handle best, matters of the heart. She made sure the blonde left town with her tail between her legs and hopefully, if she was smart, never returned.
Now that Grace was taken care of her mind wandered as she had and sipped on a glass of rum to her family. Were the boys safe, was Starlene safe? She didn't have much time to ponder over that as the boys came rushing in.
"Pol, Tommy's been shot. Get some alcohol to pour on his wound would ya?" Arthur yelled as he and some other men rushed with Tommy into the private den of the Garrison.
Polly immediately got up and sprung into action and ran behind the bar grabbing what the boys needed. She passed the bottles to John who rushed back in to help his brother while Jeremiah, a preacher and member of the Peaky Blinders, worked on getting the bullet out of Tommy's shoulder.
As she sat back down at the bar and allowed the men to do their work Ada came happily stumbling in with Freddie while pushing Karl in his stroller. Yet, there was no Starlene in sight.
The men could be heard yelling from inside of the private den, between Tommy calling out in pain, and his brothers telling him to handle it and take the pain, it sounded like another war was happening behind the closed doors.
"Where are the boys at?" Ada asked before hearing more yelling to answer her question.
"Tommy is getting a bullet taken out of his shoulder. My question to you is, where is Starlene?" Polly asked before taking a sip of her drink.
Ada could've told the truth, she could've gone and gotten Starlene herself with Freddie before heading to the Garrison to celebrate, but she didn't.
"Oh, she's not here? Maybe she ran off with Finn and will come around in a bit."
"Why wouldn't she be with you?" Polly set her glass down and raised a brow.
"Because Ada here was trying to get herself and Karl killed by Kimber's men!" Freddie chimed in as he walked behind the bar to help himself to a drink.
"You did what?" Polly's head snapped to Ada who was now holding a fussy Karl in her arms.
"I was only trying to stop the boys from getting themselves killed!" She tried to make her case against her aunt.
"By standing in no man's land? Love, they started shooting at you both and I almost had a heart attack right there." Freddie was digging his wife into a deeper hole with the Shelby monarch.
"Excuse me?" Polly eyes were wide open.
"Ada- "Polly began but was interrupted.
