BEFORE
"I'm sick of it you know, just because I don't have her skinny ass body doesn't mean I'm fat" Jenny, a brunette girl cried in the communications classroom. Maddy looked up and frowned sympathetically before laying her head back on Justin's shoulder tiredly. Zach was sitting on the other side of her playing with her hair and Pratters was in front of her.
"Maybe she should try a diet" Pratters shrugs earning glares from the majority of the class.
"Shut the fuck up" Maddy hissed.
"Seriously Pratters. Jesus" Hannah spoke in disbelief, turning to face him with a scowl.
"I'm just saying alright, if you are getting fat shamed then you know...don't be fat" he defended.
"Pratters that's like someone saying don't be a fucking idiot. Can't help it" Maddy laughed.
"I can't help it" Pratters agreed.
"Exactly" Maddy and Zach spoke looking at each other in amusement as well as the rest of the class.
"Thank you" he spoke making the two laugh
"Totally not on your side dude" Zach sighed whilst Maddy groaned and mentally face palmed.
Hannah looked over at the two with a smile on her face which only the short brunette seems to notice as Zach was too busy gazing at the girl beside him.
"Alright people, remember the compliment bags" the teacher exclaimed loudly once the bell rang.
Justin and Zach were waiting at the door for Maddy to look in her compliment bag when she was suddenly approached by Hannah.
"Hey Maddy" Hannah spoke nervously, they hadn't spoken since Hannah hung up on the girl when she needed her and she wanted to smooth things over between them and bring up what she witnessed at the Winter formal.
"Hey" Maddy deadpanned, not even looking in her direction.
"I'm really sorry about hanging up on you, I just had a really bad night you know?" she sighed
"I just really needed you, you didn't have to be such a bitch about it" Maddy scoffed, turning around so she was facing Hannah.
"I wasn't being a bitch, you're not the only person who is going through something" Hannah stated in annoyance.
"Well it was literally the lowest point in my life, you were being a bad friend" Maddy spat.
"Why because I won't sit and listen to you bitch and moan about you're psychotic boyfriend who you won't break up with? What's the fucking point Maddy" the girl spoke, looking to see Justin and Zach watching the scene with wide eyes, they didn't have a clue about what they were arguing about, they didn't even know the girls weren't friends.
"He's not psychotic" the shorter brunette seethed.
"Okay if he's not psychotic then what was that I seen at Winter formal? or the bruises that appear on your neck and arms. Hand shaped bruises" Hannah clarified, more worriedly than angry which also caused the two boys at the door to be more alert of the conversation now.
"You don't know what you're talking about" she muttered, beginning to walk away before Hannah grabbed her forearm gently which stopped her in her tracks.
"Maddy I care about you, we can tell someone and get you help" Hannah softly proposed.
Maddy ripped her arm from Hannah's grasp and spun around to glare at the girl who was looking at her with a hopeful expression "I don't know if you're maybe bored of your own life so you have to interfere in others, but if you tell anyone about that I will fucking come for you. We good?"
Hannah's jaw went slack at the words that sprouted from her friends mouth but nodded nonetheless and watched her walk away, rooted to her spot in the classroom.
"What was that about Mads? Hand shaped bruises?" Zach questioned as the walked to lunch.
The girl rolled her eyes playfully "Z it was honestly nothing she doesn't even know what she's saying now come on I'm hungry"

"I can't get my strength" Marcus stated, placing a box on the table which was filled with pins with his face on them.
Maddy picked one up and smiled teasingly "Fuck me" she giggled "how many of these did daddy make you?" earning laughs from Bryce and Justin.
"Enough to win the election" Marcus replied smugly earning a playful eye roll from the girl, she was sitting beside Justin because Monty was suspended for pushing a boy to the ground he thought was getting too close to her.
"I'll be right back" Zach whispered looking at Maddy one last time before walking over to Hannah. He knew he could never have Maddy so he wanted to move on and he actually really liked Hannah. Obviously he only told Maddy the second part. No matter what issues she may have with Hannah, Zach is her best friend and if he likes her she can deal with it and perhaps the two can even become friends again.
Maddy was almost bouncing in her seat from excitement, so much so she was receiving weird and confused looks from the boys around her. It looked like it was going well until...it..wasn't.
"Leave me alone!" Hannah yelled making everyone go silent and look over at the commotion. Maddy's heart broke at the sight of Zach's dejected face so when he was out of the cafeteria she stormed over to Hannah.
"You know what Hannah, Zach is a really nice guy, a lot nicer than some of the other guys here and you would be lucky to have him. Sometimes I think you bring this shit on to yourself" Maddy snapped.
"Oh really? Before you start lecturing me maybe you should take your own advice you know maybe it's your own fault your boyfriend abuses you" Hannah spoke back angrily.
Before Hannah could even realise what was happening her face snapped to the side and there was an echoing smack than rang throughout the room bringing gasps from the students around them.
"Don't ever bring up Monty again" Maddy whispered before following out the way Zach just left leaving the cafeteria in stunned silence and her friends looking at each other with shocked expressions.
