The month was November, and your grandma had just passed, passing down her house (as well as her debt) to you. Having just moved out of your parent's house, you decided to go on a trip across the state to Hurricane, Utah, the small town where your grandma spent her last few years. You've never been to Hurricane, rather, you don't remember having been here, but driving in gave you a wave of nostalgia.

Why? You don't have any memories of being here, why do you feel 'at home'? You ignored the feeling, and pulled up to a small, rather lively house. A bright blue exterior, and upon walking in, a rather bland interior. Biege painted walls, covered by plenty pictures of family throughout their lives. In one section were pictures of you, from your first steps to your high school graduation to your first day at your first job as a cashier. You smiled softly at the memories and how fond of them you were.

Placing your car keys on the table, you decided you might as well unpack and find somewhere that's hiring. You brought all your clothes that fit and some items that were important to you. Upon placing them in their desired places, you laid on the king-size bed with a soft yellow blanket and decided to rest your eyes. You never realized how tired you were from the drive, and fell asleep shortly after.

Waking up, you looked at the bedside clock.

7:33pm

What? It was just 2:56 not too long ago, right? You rubbed your eyes and yawned. So much for resting your eyes. You just hoped something was open or had a 'now hiring' sign out front. You stood and went to grab your (F/C) jacket, your shoes, and your car keys. The darkness was... eerie, you could never get used to it, no matter how many times you worked the night shift at your previous job. You checked the center console for your pepper spray. Your mom always told you to keep a container in the car, just in case something were to happen.

Starting the car and driving around town, you kept a close eye for the businesses around. About a mile from your house, you noticed a pizzeria with a rather large sign in the front. It sure wanted to make it known they needed employees. You pulled into the parking lot, and noticed some fine writing on the sign.

No experience needed, apply between 8:45am - 10:45pm. Please go to the office in the East hall if applying.

Well, they sure were open late. Parking the car, you noticed someone walking out. Are they wearing a phone on their head...? You stepped out the car hesitantly. The person then noticed you, and cleared his throat.

"O-Oh, hello, welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a place for kids and adults alike. Are you applying for a job? You don't have any little ones with you.. a-and it's late.."

"Uh, yeah, actually. Do you know where the East hall is?" you asked, rather awkwardly. You didn't want to bother him, considering it looked like he was going home, but you knew you had no idea where you were going. The person said they knew where the office was, and offered to take you. You accepted the offer, hoping it was, well, nothing more. You just wanted to take the interview, check out the place, and go home. Time didn't feel like it was on your side, not after you took that nap at least. It felt like it passed too quick.

"Here it is, good luck!" The person knocked on the door and walked off. You heard someone from behind the door allow you to enter, so you walked in and sat in the only empty chair in the room. Looking up, you noticed a heavier built man in a deep grey suit and fedora, with a cigar in his mouth. You figured it must be the boss, and fixed your posture, attempting to look more professional. The man just asked you to describe yourself, strengths and weaknesses, any previous jobs and why you left them, as well as your contact information. An hour later, he thanked you, shook your hand, and sent you on your way. You walked out of the small office and sighed. It felt tense, but it might be worth it, who knows.

Walking out of the pizzeria, you checked your watch, hoping it wasn't too late.

9:56pm

Already two hours? Wow. Time really wasn't on your side today. You got into your car and drove off. You might as well go to sleep, there isn't much to do here in Hurricane. Along the roads, you would see just dirt and one or two people walking who knows where, but then you saw the phone person again. They were walking home it seemed, as the neighborhood was in the direction you both were headed. You pulled over beside where he was and rolled down the passenger window.

"Phone guy, need a ride?" you asked, trying to seem polite. The person accepted your offer, and you unlocked the door. Climbing in, he kept the phone on his head and asked if it was a disturbance. You said it wasn't, asked for directions to where he was headed, and continued driving. You attempted to make small talk, but he seemed tired, and somewhat irritated, so you left him alone.

"It's this building on the corner here, that's where my apartment is." The car came to a soft halt, and the person walked out. "I'll walk the rest of the way from here, thanks." He took out his wallet and gave you twenty bucks. You declined it, saying that since he showed you the office you needed to go to, you might as well give him a ride home since he was walking. Putting the money back in his wallet, he thanked you again and walked towards the building. You then made your way home, which wasn't too far from this apartment complex, surprisingly.

Locking the car and walking inside, you took off your shoes at the door and laid down on your bed. All you could really do was just lay there, you weren't exactly tired, but you weren't entirely awake either. You decided that, instead of falling asleep in your day clothes again, to change into something more comfortable. You grabbed a band t-shirt and some sweatpants and put them on. You couldn't help but wonder who that phone guy was. Was his head actually a phone? No, it had to have been a mask or something. Why did he have to walk so far, though.. Maybe his car is in the shop, or out of commission for the time being.

You were a little surprised to notice that the thoughts slowed, and eventually you fell into a deep sleep.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.. hopefully something normal.

Those thoughts wouldn't age well.
