What you didn't tell anybody was you wanted to know more about Scott. Once again, his surface-level mystery intrigued you.
Hopefully with this park day, you'd be able to learn more about the guy.
====================================
Everybody seemed to agree to meet at 2:30pm, and you were pleased. People were actually willing to make plans with you, and seemingly last-second, no less. Scott sent you the general location of the park so you didn't get lost, and you thanked him. Staring at the ceiling, you continued to think. You sure did that a lot lately, huh?
However, your train of thought immediately went to the Phone Guy. Yeesh, that man has been on your mind since the day of your interview. Yikes. You couldn't help it though, he just.. lured you in, for some reason.
You heard your phone ring.
It was Scott.
"Hello?"
"H-Hey, (Y/N), are you okay? Its already almost 3.." You jumped, not only at the sound of his calming yet tired voice, but also at the time. The man talking to you on the phone right now is the same man you had been thinking of for the past few hours.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just fell back asleep, I guess."
"You are a terrible liar, you realize that right?" Snickering could be heard from Scott's line. You wanted to give a smart-ass comeback, but you bit your tongue.
"Man, whatever, I'll be there in a bit." You hung up the phone, but not before Scott could say bye. You brushed out your (h/c) hair, threw on a plain shirt, your jacket, and some jeans, then walked out. You tried to memorize the photo Scott had sent you, but you still needed to use it as reference every so often.
Finally arriving to the town park, you saw four men wave to you. There was one you didn't recognize. He was heavier built, wearing round glasses that suited his face that sported freckles. His red-orange hair blew in the late November breeze. You hesitantly walked over, knowing he probably wouldn't try anything with you, but just the general uncertainty of meeting someone new. For someone who wasn't too good with meeting new people, you were doing pretty well for meeting five new people in the past three days. Well, four people if the boss doesn't really count.
You walked over to the small table they were seated at, and placed yourself at the empty spot between Scott and the man you didn't recognize.
"Excuse me, you're (Y/N), right? I'm Fritz, I'll also be working the night shift with everyone else here."
"Oh, uh, yeah. That's me," you chuckled nervously. Fritz had an awfully welcoming smile, and it seemed to calm your nerves a bit. He held his hand out, and you two exchanged a handshake.
"Yeah, (Y/N)'s not much of a talker, kind of like Jeremy here." Scott said, spreading his arms along the backrest of the bench you two were seated on. "...Everything okay?"
You didn't notice, but you tensed up from all the new people you've met and Scott's innocent gesture. For some reason, he wore the phone mask outside of work, too. Everything else about him, though, gave you a sense of security. Why though, you've never met this man in your life, right? Whatever, you still felt really comfortable when you found yourself around Scott, whether you remembered why or not was the least of your worries right now.
