Rubbing his eyes, you heard the man speak.
"Hnn... (Y/N)? You there?"
====================================
Hearing his raspy voice suddenly, you jumped. In a panic, you turned around and watched as he sat up and made eye contact with you. His dull, gray-blue eyes stared into your (E/C) eyes as he smiled softly.
"Well, good morning (Y/N)."
"Uh, good morning..?" The confusion seemed to be apparent on your face, and slowly but surely did you begin to recognize his features. His messy hair definitely helped you with that, as he was always a messy toddler, only being neat and collected when he needed to. "You've definitely aged."
"Gee, thanks," Scott brushed his fingers against the stubble on his chin. "It's almost like I didn't notice."
You chuckled slightly.
"Sorry, it's just I couldn't help but point that out. Looks good though." You grinned as Scott combed through his hair with his fingers, putting the phone mask back on. "Breakfast?"
"No, no, I'm fine. I'll find something to eat later on."
"Scott."
"(Y/N)."
"Eat some breakfast." Your tone was slightly demanding, slightly caring. You placed a plate of sliced fruits in front of him. "At least have something to start your day." He lifted the mask off his head slightly, only uncovering his mouth, and began to eat rather hesitantly.
You placed a cup of water next to him as well. Considering neither of you had work today, you decided to throw on some casual clothes and hang out for the day. You didn't know where you would hang out, but you'll figure something out.
Looking through your closet and hoping Scott wears the same size you do, you picked out a random pair of jeans and a button-down shirt. You also grabbed a matching shirt, just in case the button-down couldn't fit all the way.
Making your way back into the living room, you could just hope these would fit him.
"Uh, I know it isn't much, but I hope these fit well enough. If they don't we can just stop by your house or something."
Scott looked at the clothes you laid down next to him. He found it kind of odd, how the man standing in front of him was being sorta... welcoming, now. Usually, the (Y/N) he knew would brush new people off, sticking with only his original friend group through thick and thin. The (Y/N) he knew would only turn his back on those he loved and admired if they were truly in the wrong or did something unforgivable. But now? He's letting someone 'new' to him sleep in his house, borrow his clothes, and eat his food. Sure, the two men had just talked about their time previously spent together the night before, but it felt obvious that you still hadn't completely warmed up to Scott. It still felt as though you two were strangers.
However, you still tried to seem like nothing changed. That was easier said than done, as you can hardly remember your time here in Hurricane, but you would at least attempt to make the most of it.
Glancing towards Scott, you noticed your clothes fit him pretty well, and he decided to put on the shirt under the button down so as to not inconvenience you. Really, it wouldn't, but it was Scott being his usual self, a people pleaser.
The two of you simply sat there, enjoying each other's presence. The silence was awkward yet welcoming. Scott then cleared his throat and stood up.
"Uh, my place has a few things, like, movies and stuff.. If you wanna go."
"Sure, it's better than nothing."
The two of you exited the small house, with Scott leading the way. The walk was pretty quiet, with only the slight breeze and the rustling of the various plants you passed filling the silence. Occasionally, Scott would glance at you, simply to make sure you were still with him and hadn't wandered off.
The silence was broken once the two of you arrived. Scott's place was a relatively small house, just big enough for about a family of four.
"W-Well, welcome to the humble Cawthon Residence! It's nothing big, but just what I need, y'know?" You hummed in response, and Scott opened the door, gesturing for you to walk in. Doing so, you noticed his place seemed comforting. Of course, there was a pile of movies on the TV stand, next to a video game console, which was presumably used for said movies.
"Scott, this place isn't too bad, honestly! What kinda movies you got?"
"Oh, nothing too interesting. Just some comedies, along with some other random movies I've gotten over the years. Say, do you still like rom-coms? I-I remember you were really into this one movie in high school."
You jokingly gagged, shaking your head.
"Oh hell no, I've definitely grown out of those. I'm more into things like thrillers and horror. I think you might've heard of this series. It's one of my favorites." You said, spotting a certain movie in his stack and putting it into the player. The title of the movie flashed on the screen, and you noticed Scott's face go a little pale.
"Uh, Nightmare on Elm Street? You didn't seem to be the kind of person to like these kinds of movies..."
"To be fair, it's been over a decade, and people change a lot during that time." You chuckled and nudged Scott's arm. He returned the gesture, placing his hand on the back of his neck.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, huh? Well, we should probably make some popcorn and get comfortable, then."
-
Soon enough, the two of you found yourselves with a bowl of popcorn in your hands and wrapped in blankets on Scott's couch. You were invested in the movie, while Scott seemed awfully tense.
"Hey, are you okay?" You whispered, just loud enough to get his attention. He jumped just slightly, but chuckled it off.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I just don't usually watch these kinds of movies, y'know?" Scott fixed his blanket slightly, as to cover himself up a little more.
"Ohh, okay, okay. Makes sense, I guess. Well, you've got other movies we can watch after this."
-
As the fourth randomly-selected movie of the day started, you found Scott fighting his sleep, mainly because he still had his phone-head on. Tapping his shoulder, you asked if you could take the helmet off for him. He hesitated for a bit, but granted you permission.
He sighed as you lifted the helmet off of his head. This morning you didn't pay too much attention to the details of his face, just noticed the more prominent features, but now you could pay more attention to them. You'd be lying if you said he wasn't attractive, at least to you. Scott leaned his head on your shoulder and fell asleep almost immediately after.
You ran your fingers through his hair as you watched the movie.
