Josi Morales, I think I'm in love," Caleb stated as soon as they were done eating. "With your cooking of course."Josi snorted, getting up to clear the table. Almost an hour had passed since she had led Caleb back to the house. The only reason she was so relaxed with him there was because she knew Tammy and the rest wouldn't be back for a while. They would go out to the park or something, after their dinner, to have more family time. They usually did this every few weeks; Josi suspected she wasn't ever invited to rub it in that she wasn't one of them.
The joke was on them though, she'd had fun today if not other times. Caleb didn't know anything about cooking—typical rich kid—but he'd still wanted to assist. That turned out to be a big mistake when he kept mixing everything up and throwing whatever he felt went into her chili. Still it turned out okay. And Caleb seemed to really enjoy it.
"I wouldn't expect otherwise," she replied.
He raised a brow at her. "Modest much?"
She laughed. "You're one to talk."
He just shook his head at her then stood up to help her with clearing.
"No, leave it," she told him. "You already helped with dinner."
He ignored her though and she didn't protest further. Stubborn idiot. He kept her company as she did the dishes, even helping her dry them. It surprised her. Sure, he couldn't cook, but he had assisted, then cleared the table with her and was now drying the dishes for her. Caleb Flynn was full of surprises. He was one complicated, sexy package. He should come with his very own label warning.
When they were done with the dishes they moved back into the living room. It wasn't late yet but a little dark out. "Do you want to head home?" she asked, taking a seat on one end of the couch. He did the same, picking the other side and leaving a few inches of space between them.
"Honestly, no," he answered. "My parents are hosting a party and I'd rather not go."
"Okay then." She had a couple of hours before Tammy got back so it was okay for him to stay a little longer. "What do we do now?" Please let him pick something that involves moving around, she silently prayed.
Her hopes were dashed when he replied. "Watch a movie."
Josi froze. She wanted to protest but he was already moving forward to the front of the TV to go through their movie collection. She inwardly groaned. She said nothing though and waited for him to pick a movie and put it in.
"Make yourself at home, why don't you?" she muttered as she watched him move around with ease.
He heard her though—of course—and glanced back to shoot her a wink and a smirk. She relaxed slightly at the sight. He came back to the couch holding the remote then pressed play.
Fifteen minutes into the movie, she knew nothing, not even the name, and was already bouncing her left leg up and down. This was why she didn't watch movies. She couldn't sit still for long without doing anything, it was now second nature to her. If she did, she would start moving restlessly. The only person who knew was Megan and thankfully, it didn't annoy her. Most of the people around her when it happened would snap at her. She knew it was annoying, but it wasn't something she could help. It was just another way Tammy had ruined her.
Josi was surprised when Caleb didn't say anything, but she could feel his questioning gaze on her every minute he glanced over.
