"WHAT DO YOU MEAN you're not doing magic anymore?" pansy asked, sitting on her bed.

harlow stopped blending her foundation to turn to pansy, "i mean i'm done, when i do magic people get hurt."

"harlow, that's ridiculous." pansy told her.

"you heard what professor trelawney said and what happened in professor lupins." she continued to do her makeup, "if i keep doing magic i'm gonna hurt people, or worse..."

"but we go to hogwarts, hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, it's in the name harlow, you can't just stop." daphne interjected.

that was more than daphne had said to her in the past two weeks since she caught her sneaking in, "you guys don't get it, this thing inside of me is scary. it scares me. i don't understand it, neither does dumbledore, or any other of the professors. you remember what it did to draco, right?"

"draco deserve that." daphne replied.

"yeah, maybe. the whole point is i didn't mean to do it." she explained.

"how are you gonna pass your classes?" pansy asked.

"i stopped using magic a little over two weeks ago, i've been fine so far." she told them.

"this seems like a horrible idea." daphne said.

harlow finished her makeup and stood up, "maybe, but maybe it'll work."

"they're gonna kick you out harls, you can't do this forever." pansy told her.

she shrugged, "maybe i can."

harlow sat in professor lupin's office, watching his reaction from his desk. professor lupin stood on the other side of the room pacing.

he laughed, "stop doing magic?" he laughed harder. harlow's face didn't budge, "oh, you're serious."

"deadly."

"you do understand this is a school for magic, correct?" he asked.

"i'm aware."

he took a seat across from her, "why?"

"you've seen how i get, when i get angry, sad, even when i get too happy." she explained, "i explode. i mean the amount of people i've hurt just from them being around me."

"harlow, that's not your fault." he told her, "you cant control it."

"exactly." she shook her head, "you don't know how hard it is to be afraid of every emotion you feel, or hurting people you love and not being able to do anything about it."

professor lupin looked distant for a moment, "you're right, i'll never fully understand it. this, however, is not the way to go about it. jeopardizing your future at this school because of fear. being ruled by fear is no way to live your life."
