HARLOW PRIED HER SAPPHIRE eyes open, separating her eyelids from the faux glue, created from her salty tears the night before, that cemented her eyes closed. she looked around the room, blinking away the dryness of her eyes. daphne and pansy were sleeping, along with the sun that showed no trace in the sky.

she stood up, allowing her bare feet to touch the cold stone floor. she approached the mirror and stared at her reflection. draped over her body was her favorite satin pajama set, the matching cami and shorts were in slytherin green. just as she was about to lay back down she heard rapping on her door. once thump after the other.

harlow approached the door cautiously, as she opened it an owl flew in. it perched itself on harlow's vanity mirror. it was a baroque style mirror with gold crowning. among further inspection she realized the owl had a note in its claws, along with a singular lily. harlow took the note and the lily from the bird's talons. she read the note carefully.

lo, meet me in the great hall. - c

harlow studied the familiar black bird, she realized it was cedric's owl, nevermore. he remembered that he had told her that he named the owl during his hyper-fixation with edgar allen poe first year. she didn't know much about the guy, but cedric seemed to think he was fascinating, so she did too.

harlow slipped on a pair of socks and tiptoed out of her dorm, neglecting to put on makeup or even brush her hair. she couldn't help but feel exhilarated by this, at the dursley residents she wasn't allowed to see company 'unkempt.' she navigated her way to the great hall and cracked open the door.

the door sent out a cast of moonlight on the dim great hall floor. cedric stood with his back turned to the door, he twisted his head to the door when he heard the creek of the door open. he stood now facing her, with a smile on his face. she closed the door behind her and ran into his arms, kissing him passionately.

he pulled away sheepishly, "god, i missed you."

she laughed, "you saw me 6 hours ago."

he felt his face heat up and flushed a shade of bright red, "i know."

"i missed you too." she paused, "why'd you ask to me here?"

"so i cant see my-" he stopped at the realization that he didn't know what they were to each other anymore. "you?"

"is it necessary to see me at 5 a.m.?" harlow asked.

cedric laughed, then looked at her seriously, "we need to talk."

harlow's face fell, "oh."

he looked at her confused, "what?" then he realized, "oh no, no, i'm not talking about that."

harlow smiled and repeated in a happier tone, "ooh."

"yeah." cedric grinned, "look i'm just gonna say it so please don't be pissed at me."
