Chapter 7

Tris
I smile as Peter hugs Cara tightly and kisses her forehead. Even though he tried to kill me, I always knew-no I didn't. I'm lying. I always thought he'd be kicking puppies or something but no. He fell in love and he's acting like a good guy.
This war has changed all of us in some way. I appreciate my life more. Peter found love In a hopeless and dark place. Tobias reconnected with his mother. Christina and Uriah found comfort in each other, even after those they loved passed on.
A tingle runs up my spine as I think of shooting Will and Marlene's body hitting the pavement below as I saved Hector who was to young to die this way, but sadly I believed Marlene was. I still cringe at the though to this very day.
Tobias places a comforting hand around my shoulders as we stare at the dauntless compound. It looks better than ever. How long have we been gone?
"Ready to go home?" He asks as I lean my head in his shoulder and nod slowly. He kisses the top of my head and wraps his arms around me as Caleb grabs the wheel chair and opens it for me.
I smile when I see his face and he does too. When I went into the lab instead of him I forgave him. He's forgiven twenty times over because he was willing to die for me to forgive him. And I almost died proving his forgiveness. "come on Beatrice." caleb says holding one arm and Tobias on the other as I attempt to walk to him.
It isn't that I can't walk. I just haven't walked in weeks so my legs are a little weak.
I take a deep breath before I shake them off of my arms and stand on my own for the first time. I feel a tear escape my eye as I do. I'm so glad to be doing something on my own. "Tris are you okay?" Tobias' comforting voice says as nod wiping my eyes. I take a step foreward wincing a little but I make my legs move. I make them walk to the wheel chair on their own.
As I get to the chair I slump into it. My legs burn. "This sucks." I say irritated. Tobias laughs and helps me sit right. "It wil get better. Just think If I hadn't excercised your legs while you were out you wouldn't be able to walk at all." I roll my eyes and move the wheels across the pavement, Tobias following.
We get inside the compound and to my surprise, everyone is clapping and cheering. Zeke and Shauna are in front waiting for me. I roll quickly to them and hug Shauna who is still in a wheel chair.
"So how long do you have to be on wheels?" She asks. A small smile plays on my lips. "I can get out in two weeks." she smiles and looks up at Zeke who helps her lift.
My eyes widen as he lifts her to stand on her legs. "what. I. But." I stammer dumbfounded. "Cara found a serum the erudite had been working on to heal the worst injuries and we tried it. She's only on her second dose but she can stand on her own." Zeke says holdin back tears. I smile at them both and a shining glitter catches my eye. I notice that it is from her hand as Tobias comes behind me and places a hand on my shoulder.
I look up at him in amazement and he smiles holding a small vial. he and Zeke exchange glances and shauna holds out her hand to me to help me stand.
"Cara found enough to finish my round of the serum and enough to try to help your healing." I hug her and she hugs me back before sitting in her chair.
I take the vial from Tobias and hold it in my hand. It is green and has a minty aura.
I exchange glances with them before tilting my head back with the vial. The liquid is warm as it goes down my throat. I gulp and open my eyes they're all smiling at me. "So when will it start working?" I question feeling sleepy.
"Well it'll take a bit to start but you should get some sleep because this serum causes drowsiness." Shauna admits and shrugs.
I nod and Tobias pushes me through the compound to a wooden ramp. I cock an eyebrow as he chuckles. "They built this to get you up here. It's removeable." I nod as he rolls me into his old apartment. I tense as we roll in.
"Everything alright?" I shake my head. "I know. I know." Tobias holds me an I cry. "I just. This room was the last place I was before I left to." I can't even finish the sentence. "We aren't staying here. I am just getting a few things." Tobias says almost at a whisper.
I smile and kiss him softly. "I have a new place I am sure you will love." I smile and he leaves me in the living room with my thoughts to retrieve a few of his things.
He comes back smiling holding a small bag. He sets the bag in my lap and rolls me out of the room.
I fight to stay awake as we roll to hi-our new apartment. He arrives at a room labeled 4-6 meaning we are at the very top floor where the leaders lived. I smile at our numbers as my eyes start to close.
"We're here." I hear and the last thing I see before sleep over takes me is a wall of beautiful windows.
