"I thought we agreed to stay home. Why would you show up to work on your birthday?" I rolled my eyes at the comment and continued to wipe down all the tables and mop the floor.

It was my birthday.

I wouldn't say I was happy or excited. It was like a normal day for me, a day that I hated, and guess what? It was Thursday. I hate Thursdays.

"It's not that big of a deal, guys. I decided to come to work because I have nothing else to do at home," I looked up to see all of them staring at me like I'm a crazy person.

I giggled and threw the dirty mop water out. "If it wasn't for us, you would be at home doing nothing for your birthday," Elisha crossed her arms over her chest and shot glares at me.

I shook my head and couldn't help but smile, smile at the fact that just a few months ago I didn't have the people I have today -right now.

I never had friends. Even when I did, they were always chased away by Christopher, or they would simply stop being friends with me just because I wasn't allowed to hang out.

"Anyway, tonight's gonna be amazing. Just leave everything else up to us, and also, a gift from me will be arriving at your house by the time you leave here," Eva told me with a big smile as she pulled me into a tight hug.

"A gift?"

"What is it?" I asked. She rolled her eyes and let go. "A gift is a surprise, isn't it?" She raised a very sharp brow. I shrugged and laughed.

We'll see once I get home, I guess.

I opened the door of my apartment and stepped inside, took off my jacket, and threw my keys onto the coffee table. I heaved a smiling sigh once I plopped onto the couch, reaching for my TV remote. I turned on Netflix and played the next episode of Breaking Bad. I've been watching this show for about two weeks now, and I'm loving it so far. It was around 8 p.m. when I had arrived home, and by the time I had been sitting here, I'd watched a total of ten episodes. It was now nine o'clock and some change.

I yawned and turned the show off. I heard a buzz sound from my phone and I picked it up. My eyes went wide when I saw at least a hundred messages from the girls.

"You better be ready; we're on our way to come get you," was the last message they sent, and that was three minutes ago.

Shit, the surprise. The dinner.

I bolted to the shower and quickly took one, until I was squeaky clean. I came out and wrapped a towel around my body and hair. I went to my room to skim through my closet to find something to wear, anything. But I couldn't find anything.
