Chapter Seven

Despite her being in Ravenclaw house, Lily was not the kind of student who spent all of her spare hours living in the library. She tended to do her studying in her dorm or outside in the Clocktower courtyard, weather permitting. She did visit the library if she needed to find a particular recommended textbook or if she wanted to brush up on her knowledge of exotic animals. However she was never found there more than once a week at the most often. That probably explained the levels of confusion that Madam Pince was going through when she found the dark-haired, green-eyed Ravenclaw in the history section three times in the past 24 hours.

She thought that perhaps Lily was struggling in classes or was up to some mischief like that twin brother of hers often was. She found that unlikely since Lily Potter was the more sane and responsible of the two Potter twins. When Madam Pince found Luna Lovegood with the girl, knee deep in history books, pouring over Hogwarts a History and the two girls trying to keep their urgently excited and curious voices down, Madam Pince figured that whatever it was, it did not warrant any concern or suspicion.

Luna had probably said something to Lily that sparked a sudden interest in history. Luna had a way of doing that. When Lily had discovered that Hogwarts a History did not go into depth and detail on Serafina Black and her involvement with the Cursed Vaults, other than mentioning the date and mentioning the other students who had aided her, one of them being Bill Weasley himself who helped before he graduated a few years before Serafina did.

Lily had gone through every book that contained information on modern Wizards, historical events and curses but none of them had any information on Serafina Black. Lily did not blame them since the textbooks could not write themselves and it had been so recent, that people were probably still working on writing about the events.

"I wish I knew who the boy was," Lily sighed, "if he lived so long ago then there may be mention of him somewhere around here... or maybe about his death. What I'm curious about is how he could have been over 50 years old and not look a day over 16! Is there a way to time travel do you suppose?"

Luna nodded, "time turner...but they are very rare, and I do not know if they can take you that far back into the past or the future."

"Is there any record of who possessed time turners in the past?" Lily asked next hopefully, "maybe there is mention of the boy."

Luna shook her head, "it would appear that we hit a dead end."

"then we just need to change it into a fork in the road," Lily replied with determination in her voice, "I am meeting Snape, Dumbledore and McGonagall in the Astronomy tower tonight at midnight. I will ask them all that they can tell me and maybe that will make our search easier. until then I'm going to write in the diary."

About an hour later Lily had sat down on her bed with Ellery heating her feet with her naturally hot scaly body that was sleeping at the end of the bed. She pulled out the diary and opening to the earliest blank page, scribbled quickly and urgently.

'Hello there my mysterious friend. I never asked you about what I saw the other day in my dreams because I was not sure if you would know anything about it. I am just going to go out here on a limb and ask. Does the name Serafina Black ring a bell with you?' She wrote.

The response was a little bit of a wait and Lily wondered if the person had been shocked by her question, 'I was waiting for you to ask me that. Yes, I do know Serafina Black. I knew her back when she was a student at Hogwarts. She was very kind, patient, intelligent and an inspiring role model.' Was the reply.

Lily frowned, 'you said you were waiting for me to ask you about her... How could you be sure that I would ever hear about her?'

The response was instant, 'because she has been the one introducing those visions into your subconscious the past few weeks. It was my job to ensure that you experienced the right triggers that would awaken them inside you.'
