No one managed to sleep. We just sat in our cell in silence. I spent half the night crying until my tears ran out. After I just sat there staring at the wall. I wish my dad didn't stay. I hate I didn't speak to him. We did it to keep each other safe but it became pointless. I could've spent these last few weeks spending time with my dad. "I'm so sorry, this is all my fault." Malcom apologised, "I never should've got others involved. My own daughter betrayed me. She betrayed her own people. How could she? She never seemed interested in power or money."
"You were trying to protect your people." Emily reassured. "You never could've known Sinead would turn against you."
"Well, it was kind of obvious she's a psychopath," Brandon added.
"Brandon!" Emily shouted.
"Sorry."
"Now everyone's going to be slaughtered and it's all my fault." Malcom said upset and annoyed.
"You can't blame yourself. You couldn't have known this would happen. We'll get out of this." Brandon said.
"How are we going to possibly survive this Brandon?" I shouted.
"That's not the attitude to have. We'll find a way out."
"We're going to be taken to be killed any minute now so unless you know how to teleport, I don't see how we're getting out."
A guard walks into the prison then stops for a minute before slowly walking over to our cage. He won't look at us. He has bright blonde hair and a muscular build. He finally reaches the cage and throws four sandwiches through the bars. "You want to try to escape then let's do it." I whisper to the others. "Mata. Y fa ma." I shouted at the guard and it definitely got his attention; he looks shocked and confused. The others also look at me extremely confused.
"What did you just say? And how did you just say that?" Emil asked.
"Yesterday when Sinead shouted at the Stone tribe's guards, I recognised the language, it's Fren. I said help and let us out." Dad taught me Fren. He thought it's a good idea to be able to speak a bit of most languages. I know a bit of a lot of languages and fortunately, Fren is what I'm best at.
"It's the language of the Stone tribe so I thought it's best for everyone in the tribe to learn it. Sinead became fluent like I did" Malcom explained.
"Thongta. Busha K Raft." The guard finally said, the Fren accent sounds a lot like the French one which is why people get them confused.
"What?" I replied, confused. "He says he's sorry and wishes he could."
"If he wishes he could help then why doesn't he?" Emily asks.
"You speak English?" The guard said.
"Yes," I answered.
"My... my... sorry my English is not the best; I can never remember a few words. I'm Max."
"I'm Katie, this is Emily and Brandon and you probably know Malcom."
"I do. To answer the girl's question. I want to help. I do but I can't. Sinead has my si... si.. sister. I didn't want to fight so under Abraham's instructions she took my sister, Annabelle, she's only seven and will kill her."
"Max if you help us then I promise we will help save your sister. Please." I begged.
Suddenly, Sinead followed by her guards came charging in. "I'm sorry," Max whispered in Fren before running off.
"Time to die little rats." Sinead laughed. The guards unlocked the cage, put handcuffs on us then led us all out the cage apart from Malcom. "I'll deal with you later father." Off to our death.
We reached the execution sight. As we walked here it was like everything was happening to slow motion and like it wasn't really real. We're in town hall. There's a huge stage with red, velvet curtains on either side. There's three poles on the stage, we got each got tied to one. Loads of Stone tribe guards came to watch the show. Sinead's up front, obviously wanting the best view. "You won't get away with this," Brandon shouted.
"I already have and I am looking forward to celebrating by watching the death of three annoying children." Sinead laughs. I try my best to wiggle out of the cuffs but they're on way too tight. I even tried smashing them on to the pole to break them but was unsuccessful. Emily and Brandon are both trying to wiggle free but not having any success either. I can see the fear in their eyes. Three people lined up with each of us and readied their guns. Brandon and Emily started screaming and shouting. I can the tears start to form in Emily's eyes. This is how we die. I never thought I'd die like this. I always thought, I'd day from starvation or from an attack from a wild animal. There's no way out of this. We're dead. We're completely dead. This is it. "Fire!" Sinead shouted. I quickly slammed my eyes shut. The sound of gun fire filled the air.
