Chapter 8: Phase One

When we get to the store we just walk around for a bit.

"So we need to get Saran Wrap, hair dye, and hair bleach, right?" I ask

"Yup. What color hair dye?" Evangeline asks me.

"Something... strange..." I say thoughtfully.

"Lets go look at the hair dye then." She says pulling me with her.

When we get to the hair dye section of the store, we stand in front of all the colors. There's blue, yellow, pink, purple, orange, brown, white, black, and some other colors.

"Not any of the natural colors." Evangeline says.

"How about... one of these?" I ask putting the pink, blue, purple, and orange dye in a line.

"What about pink?" She says picking up the box and looks at it.

"Sure." I say. "How long does the color stay in?"

"Color stays in for 8-10 washes. Works best when hair is beached before use of dye." She reads.

"Well we were gonna bleach his hair anyway." I say

"Yup. So now we need the bleach." Evangeline says looking at the bleach.

She picks up a box and turns it over to look at the back of the box. "Washable bleach comes out after one wash." She looks at me a question in her eyes: Not gonna work is it?

I shake my head. "It'll come out before he puts the dye in."

She nods and puts it back on the self. She picks up another box. "Washable bleach. Bleach stays in hair for 6-8 washes." She looks up at me. "This one good?"

I smile "perfect."

With the dye and bleach in her hands she walks over to me. "Okay so now just the Saran Wrap, right?" She asks.

"Yeah I think." I say

"Okay let's go get that." She says walking toward the back of the store.

I smile and follow her. "This is gonna be awesome."

"Definitely." She says nodding. "So are we doing the bleach tonight or when?" she asks turning down the aisle.

"He takes a shower every night, right?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"So lets do the bleach tonight and the dye tomorrow night." I say

"Alright." She says stopping in front of the Saran Wrap.

"So lets just get whatever is cheapest." I say.

She nods. "Good idea." We grab five boxes of Saran Wrap and go to the front of the store.

We go to self check out and scan the things we bought. The total is $38.47.

I take out a twenty as Evangeline also takes out a twenty.

We both laugh as I hand her my money.

I grab the bags as the machine spits out our change. It's $2 and some coins.

She gives me a dollar and half the coins, she keeps the rest.

When we walk out side we head toward home.

"Hey Mom! We're home!" Evangeline yells as soon as we get inside her house.

"Hey Anne!" I yell after Evangeline.

"Hello girls!" Anne says walking over to us, dusting her hands off on her apron. "How was school and Sweet as Sugar's?" she asks.
