michael and charlie were on the road once again.

after his slip up in the diner that morning, the man knew he needed to be careful with what he owns and in most particular, stole.

as in right now, he knew that he'd have to address himself as michael johnson. looking back on the situation, it was a rookie move of michael to hold out a stolen card like that. he should've paid in cash incase the card got declined.

the red haired man simply sighed and began drumming his fingers along the steering wheel to the quiet song playing on the radio. occasionally, he'd glance over at charlie to see what she was up to and so far for the past hour and a half, she's been sleeping. he didn't have a problem with that seeing as the girl annoyed him, but at the same time, he was becoming bored just driving in silence.

that was of course, until he had an idea.

he grinned his classic sinister grin before skillfully connecting his phone to the aux, scrolling through his playlist of illegally downloaded songs to find the one he knew was right for this situation.

he turned up the volume, rolling down his window to really prepare him for the big moment, excitement bubbling through his chest over the killer song that was about to blast through the speakers.

he made sure to skip to the chorus, looking over at charlie before letting it play, allowing the show to run its course.

life is a highway blasted through the car speakers, so much so that the car rattled with each beat played in the song.

charlie of course, sprung up at the sudden noise, heart pounding in her chest before looking over at her companion to make sure the car hadn't crashed. as pissed as she already was to have been startled from her slumber, it was only made worse when michael smirked right back at her, stomping on the gas pedal to speed down the highway.

"life is a highway!" michael shouted along, keeping his eyes on the road.

charlie was holding on to her seatbelt for dear life, watching michael with terror in her eyes.

"michael!"

"i wanna ride it all night long!" he shouted again, this time turning to glance at the girl who shrieked when the vehicle swerved.

"michael fucking johnson! you're gonna crash the ca-"

"if you're goin' my way!" he continued, swerving around other vehicles on the highway, only to have angry drivers honk in retaliation.

"michael!" she yelled again, looking out at her side mirror to see those same angry drivers flipping off michaels swerving car.

"well, i wanna drive it all night long-"

charlie moved forwards and turned the volume down completely, breathing heavily before turning to look at the driver with a bright red face. she was angry. she was also about to piss her pants in the passenger's seat from the red haired man's reckless driving.

"michael! what the fuck was that- you- you almost fucking crashed us you bitch!"

michael slowed the speed of the car down, furrowing his brows in faux confusion, pulling a face of innocence before looking right back at charlie.

"what do you mean, sugar? i was just having some fun." he stated calmly, sarcasm seeping through his tone. the girl could only roll her eyes before slapping his shoulder, resulting in a wince and playful pout from michael.

"hey! what was that for?"

"for being a fucking lunatic on the road, that's what!"

michael huffed and rolled his eyes right back out her before mumbling "you suck."
