Chapter 4: William(August 5th FRIDAY)

Will put his hands through Max’s thick fur and turned his head when he heard the floor creak. Before him stood Amira, her clothes wrinkled, hair a mess, and her eyes closed tightly.

“Goodmorning.” He said. She opened her eyes and slumped her shoulders.

“Mr.Kennedy… I can assure you, I don’t usually drink, and when I do it usually turns out really bad, but Mr.Smith told me-.” She rambled on, looking down at the floor.

“Let me stop you right there.” She looked up at him and he watched as she tired to straighten her shirt out and tried to smooth out her hair. “First of all… Its Will, not Mr.Kennedy.” She nodded her head. “Second… Things got out of hand last night, but that was my fault and I apologize.” She smiled a shy smile and walked to the couch. Max got up from the couch and trotted towards her. He watched as she got to her knees and put Max’s face in her hands and shook it. Max licked her fingers and from where Will was sitting he saw Maxs’ tail begin to wag.

“Where was he last night?” She said pointing to Max.

“Mike hates dogs so I always have to put him in my room whenever he's over.”

“Thats too bad. He's beautiful.” Will looked up at her meeting her dark eyes. “Your dog! Thats who I was talking about. He’s the beautiful one, not Mr.Smith, not that Mr.Smith is bad looking. I just-.” Will laughed and watched as she turned red. “Oh my gosh.” She brought her hands to her face. “Work… Mr.Smith is gonna be so mad. I’m so late and I can’t lose this job.” He watched her panic.

“Hey.” She looked up at him, her eyes wide. “I told Mike last night that you would be a little late to work. So it’s okay.” Her shoulders dropped and she sighed.

“Oh thank God.” she sat down on the sofa next to him and put her head back, “Because this headache was going to be hell at work.”

“Have breakfast with me.” She turned her head and he imagined waking up next to those beautiful chocolate eyes of hers.

“I don’t know Mr.Ke-“

“Will.” He interrupted.

She smiled, “Will. I’m not really that hungry.” At that moment her stomach rumbled. She blushed once again.

“I think your stomach disagrees.” She groaned. “Am I really that bad to be around?” He teased.

“Fine, but I have to change first, look what I’m wearing.” Will took this as a chance to give her a once over.

“You look fine.” He met her eyes and she smiled and cocked her head to the side. “Come on, I know just the place.” He grabbed the keys and opened the door for her. They got into his car and drove to the french bakery.

The lady at the front looked up and smiled. “The usual Mr.Kennedy?” He nodded his head. The young lady took them to the back room, which he bought out just for himself. He pulled out Amira's chair for her and sat across once she was seated. He watched as she took in the room, which was strung up with white lanterns.

“Wow.” She breathed out meeting his eyes. “This is amazing.” She smiled which made him smile.

“Tell me something Amira.”

She looked up from the menu and nervously put some hair behind her ear. “Well… What do you want to know?”

“How long have you been working at my Insurance company?” He watched as she looked at the ground and then back up at him.

“Just a couple of weeks.” He was going to respond but the waiter arrived. He expected Amira to get a salad, like all the other girls he took there. “Could I get orange juice and the berry french toast? Oh! And after I finish my orange juice could I get a caramel latte?” She glanced over at Will as she handed the menu to the waiter and blushed.

“I’lll have the omelet with hash browns and black coffee, French Roast.” He said while not taking his eyes off of her. “How do you like it?” He said, trying to resume the conversation that the waiter interrupted.

“I love it!” She said a little bit too enthusiastically.

He chuckled and met her eyes. “You can be honest with me,its not like I’m gonna fire you.”

She sighed. “It’s just been really stressful… Mr.Smith is pretty harsh sometimes and I ‘never’ get things right. I don’t know why he hasn’t fired me yet.” Will felt a pang of hurt for her. He didn’t want her to be stressed out, in fact, he didn’t want her feeling any stress at all.

“Mike means well… His personality is just a bit on the colder side.”

“Tell me about it…” She said while playing with her fingers. Silence filled the air. She looked up and smiled at him. “What about you? I’ve only worked there for a few weeks and I’ve only seen you a handful of times.”

Will cleared his throat. “Well… I had to take over the business when my father died. Which was pretty shocking to me, because he hadn’t taught me anything so I had to learn it the hard way.”

“Oh my gosh Will.” It was the first time she had said his name without him correcting her. She reached across the table and took his hand in hers, it was a friendly gesture, except the feelings he got was completely the opposite. “Im so sorry.”

“Its okay.” He smiled at her and squeezed her fingers. She blushed and just in time, the waiter came back with their food. He pulled his hand back and they both ate in silence. As they were leaving he put his hand on the small of her back to lead her to the car.

“I’m sorry Will.”

“For what?”

“The whole hand thing…” She looked at the ground and kicked something with her foot.

“Hey.” He said, bringing her attention back to him. “Don’t be sorry about that.” She nodded her head. “Okay?”

“Okay.” He smiled at her and opened the car door for her, when they made it to her apartment he opened the window and said, “Ill have someone deliver your car to your apartment. She nodded her head and disappeared behind the door. He shook his head and drove off home.
