Chapter 6: William(August 8th Monday)
Will hadn't slept all night. His little niece who was five was laying in the hospital bed. The blanket seemed to engulf her tiny fragile body. The children's hospital was doing everything in their power to help her out. They didn't have a definite diagnosis, all they knew was that something was wrong with her immune system which resulted in her being sick all the time. Will's brother Adam, and his wife had died in a car crash three years ago. When Amanda was two Dale took over and raised her. Every now and then, when Dale went away for business, Will stepped in and took care of Amanda.
Her blood count had dropped from her last visit and Dale was in a meeting late last night, thats why he had to leave Amira, which he was upset about. It probably confused her, and he didn't need that. He didn't want to be the confusing guy who showed feelings for her, but then left her hanging. He sighed and ran his hands through his hair.
"Hi uncle Will." He got up and walked over to the bed. Amanda blue eyes were wide, but tired.
"Hi Princess." He leaned down and planted a kiss to her forehead. She felt a little warm.
"Can I go home today?" His heart fell a little.
"Yes. They're gonna give you some medicine and then you get to come to work with me." She smiled brightly from ear to ear.
"Uncle Will?"
"Hmmm?"
"I'm so sleepy." She yawned her head and hugged her little stuffed animal that Will had bought from the gift shop.
"It's okay, you can go to sleep." She nodded her head and within minutes was sleeping. Will walked out the door and went to the Cafeteria trying to find some food, he hadn't had anything since yesterday. He got himself a sandwich and was pleased to run into Amanda's DR.
"Dr.Thompson!"
"Will." The older man said.
"So I can take Amanda with me today right?"
"Yea. Just make sure she takes her medication twice a day."
"Got it. Thank you." He excused himself and went back up to her room. She was still sleeping, so he let himself enjoy his sandwich and drifted off to sleep too.

It was 4 p.m. when he woke up and realized that Amanda was laying in bed watching cartoons.
"Mornin' uncle Will."
"It's not morning silly."
"I know, but you just woke up." He yawned and started to collect his things.
"I'm gonna get your stuff together and we're gonna go stop by the office okay?"
"Okay." The nurse came in and changed Amanda into her favorite white sundress and put her hair into two pigtails.
They made it to the office by 6. When he walked into the doors he realized that he was still wearing last nights clothes and Amira would probably notice.
"Piggyback!" Amanda yelled out.
"Okay get on." He leaned down and waited for Amanda to wrap her arms tightly around his neck. They went up to the 37th floor.
"Oh good you're here." Mike said as he handed over a stack of paper that needed his signature. "You have her for the day?" He set Amanda down and she ran into Mikes office.
"No I have her for two days. Dale doesn't come back till Thursday night." He heard Amanda giggle, and excused himself to go see what she was up to. When he came to the door he stopped in his tracks. Amira was in the room laughing at something with Amanda. She was wearing a navy blue dress that flowed behind her with every move she made. Her head turned to him, making her crazy curly hair follow and their eyes met; she stepped back, her eyes went wide.
"Hi." She smiled shyly.
"Uncle Will! Look what Amira gave me!" Amanda raised up her little hand showing a pearl bracelet that hung loosely around her wrist. He looked back to Amira and she shrugged.
"Amanda we're actually going."
"But... Uncle Will..." She whined, her big blue eyes began to water. He sighed. Amanda hopped onto Mikes chair and began to spin. While she was preoccupied doing that he watched Amira walk over to him.
"So she's my competition?" She teased, but instantly turned red. He laughed, but then sighed.
"Her immune system isn't working like it should so she constantly gets sick. Thats why I had to leave so fast last night." He glanced at her, not really sure why he was telling her that.
"Well... If you want I can take her to my place, cause I was just about to leave. You could finish signing whatever you're holding and then come pick her up."
"CAN I?! CAN I?! CAN I?! Pleeeeease Uncle Will?" He sighed and threw his hands up.
"Sure." He watched Amira as she put on her coat and then took Amandas hand in hers.
"I guess I'll see you later then." She smiled and brushed past him. He shook his head and sat in the chair and began signing the papers. It was all the paper work for the gala. The caterers and the decorators.

Will was exhausted by the time he was done, there had been complications with the Rose delivery and they sent white roses instead of red. He said goodbye to the remaining staff and he drove the few blocks down to Amira's apartment. He knocked on the door and was greeted by Amira who was in her pajamas, which consisted of silky shorts and a silky top that showed a hint of what was underneath. He swallowed and stepped inside when she told him to follow her. Her apartment was nice and tidy, on the smaller side, but it was cozy enough.
He saw Amanda's eyes glued to the tv which was currently showing Frozen. She even had a braid and in her tiny arms was an oversized bowl filled with popcorn. "Uncle Will! Look!!" Amanda pointed to the screen, he joined her on the couch. He always questioned how she could have so much joy even though she was constantly in and out of hospitals. She leaned her head against his shoulder and was soon sleeping.
Amira came into the room. She was drinking a cup of tea. Her curly hair was tucked away in a bun. He cleared his throat.
"Well... I guess I should get going."
"Oh.. Okay.." Was he imagining it or did she sound disappointed?
"I hope she didn't cause too much trouble."
"Not at all, we had a lot of fun." He took Amanda in his arms and walked towards the door. He stopped as he came close to the door and turned around. There she stood, leaning against the wall, beauty and all. He was tempted to put Amanda back on the couch and take her right there. He wanted to strip the shirt off of her.
"I think it's great what you do for her." Amira said as she walked up to him.
"Well..." He sighed and met her brown eyes. "She's all I got." He stood still as Amira walked over and planted a kiss on Amanda's forehead. Their faces were inches apart and he was sure that she could feel what was going on between the two of them. There was no denying the electricity. Her dark eyes looked into his and he thought he was imagining her standing on her tiptoes and planting the lightest kiss to his cheek.
"Goodnight Will." He smiled and disappeared into the kitchen. Amira definitely knew how to leave him breathless.
