Sasuke woke up the next morning, to put it nicely, feeling like absolute shit. One of the things he hated most about smoking weed was the morning after. The feeling as if you're still high, yet your brain is coming to terms with the world around you again, is agonizing to him.
He wasn't sure how late he stayed up the night before talking with Naruto. But to him, it seemed as though time stopped, yet flew by at the same time. He's still too groggy to decipher whether that was due to the drug or the strange feelings he felt towards the other boy.
They didn't talk about anything really important. Mostly Naruto explaining what the town was like and the people there. From the sounds of it, it's another small town where everyone knows everyone. Sasuke hated those types of places.
They also talked a lot about their interests. Mostly music as that was the first commonality they shared. It was nice having someone with similar taste in music. And it definitely was different having someone actually ask him about the things he liked and disliked. Honestly, Sasuke wasn't sure how much he even spoke at all. He's sure he could listen to Naruto talk for hours without minding.
Naruto's voice was raspy and calming. Which was a large contrast to Sasuke's smooth, deep tone. But what also intrigued him, was his confidence and ease with the way he spoke. Too often, Sasuke has encountered the typical 'yes' men in his life. People that would just agree with whatever he said, simply because they wanted to get in his pants, or get the status that came along with being on his good side.
But Naruto didn't seem to care about that. In fact, they argued back and forth often, over the most trivial things. It was refreshing to Sasuke. The only other person he recalls ever arguing with, was his older brother. And even that didn't compare to the conversations he had the night before.
Before they even realized it, the sun was far gone. The only things visible were their silhouettes displayed in front of the lights from their rooms, and the flame of the lighter Naruto was playing with. And if it hadn't been for the heaviness in their eyes, thanks to the burning THC, they probably would have stayed up talking until the sun met them again.
Slowly sitting up from the warmth of his bed, Sasuke lazily rubbed the sleep from his eyes. With a yawn, he reached over to his nightstand to take his phone to check the time. The time read 11:42 A.M. Damn. Well, it did make sense. But he was sure to get an earful for sleeping until almost noon from his parents.
Eventually, he forced himself fully awake, though his mind was still playing catch-up from the night before. After quickly throwing on a t-shirt, he made his way downstairs into the kitchen, where his mother was still putting plates and cutlery into the drawers and cabinets.
"Well, would you look who's finally up, sleeping beauty." She sang, closing a cabinet and turning around to greet Sasuke.
Sasuke grunted in response, walking passed her to open the pantry and pulling out a granola bar. After taking a bite, he hoisted himself up on the counter across from his mother.
"We let you be this time, because I'm sure you were tired after all the moving and unpacking yesterday. But this whole sleeping until the afternoon thing better not become a habit, okay?" Mikoto looked at her youngest with stern eyes. Sasuke rolled his eyes and sighed before dragging out an annoyed 'okay'.
Mikoto squinted at her son, before stepping in front of him and cupping his cheeks, "Sasuke, sweetie, your eyes are pretty red. Are you okay? Have you been taking your medicine?" She turned his head slightly in her hands to get a better look into his eyes.
Sasuke swallowed hard, looking passed his mother to avoid eye contact. Am I still high? How fucking strong was that shit, Naruto?
Clearing his throat, Sasuke looked down at his knees, trying anything to avoid looking directly at her.
