"I would like to know more about you."
"I'll answer as best as I can, ma'am."
"Please, hun. You can call me Grandma Jia. What do you do for a living?" The woman asked all of the sudden.
The shorter man sat up straight and folded his hands respectfully. "I own a clothing shop along with two of my friends as fashion designers."
"How long have you been doing that occupation?" The old woman's eyes peaked with interest and her posture became less stiff.
"Almost three years now, my passion is to create good clothing that anyone can feel confident in."
"What about your family?" The man stiffened at that question.
"I haven't seen them in a long time. I was kicked out by them when I revealed my sexuality when I was a teenager. They didn't want a gay son." Lorenzo could've lied. He could've said anything but the bitter truth slipped out of his lips. A hint of sadness appeared in the woman's eyes as she heard that.
"Was Yifan also afraid of that? Of being abandoned by his loved ones?" The old woman asked.
Lorenzo nodded as lies slipped out of his lips. "He was afraid. He loves you and his siblings a lot, that's why he kept silent. Yifan didn't want to lose you guys so he kept me a secret."
"I'm sorry your family didn't accept you. Family should always support each other but some family members are very toxic. No one deserves that type of rejection from their loved ones." When Jia saw the pain in Lorenzo's eyes from those words, she decided to change the topic so the poor soul wouldn't feel sad. "How old are you, Lorenzo?"
"I am twenty-seven."
"You are four years older than Yifan."
"Yes. I was worried about the age difference at first but his love changed it all."
"Four years is nothing, honey."
Lorenzo smiled at the kind woman. "I'm sorry once again. We both should've come forward to you before our marriage. This was immature of us and I know this has hurt your heart so much. I hope you can forgive us."
"I am upset that you both hid something so big like marriage from me but I will never separate you both." She said. "Lorenzo, please take good care of our Yifan. That kid may seem cold but trust me, his heart is really sensitive. My grandson hasn't felt true love in a very long time so please love him a lot."
Her tone was sincere and Lorenzo smiled. "Thank you for accepting us. I'm sorry our first meeting was like this. I promise to give your grandson so much love."
"Now that you are married, you both will live together. I will respect your decision if you both want to move to a separate place. Please visit us from time to time." The old woman had a sad smile on her face as she wiped away her tears.
"Yifan asked me to live here with him. Would you allow that?" He asked.
"Of course, honey! Why would I say no?" The woman became excited.
"Are you sure? I don't want to burden you with being here."
"Silly little goose. I would love it if you and Yifan stay here. It's his house after all and now you're a part of the Zan family." The woman laughed.
"Thank you so much." He gave her a teasing grin. "So when can I move into this grand palace?"
The old woman chuckled at his words. "Whenever you please, sweetie."
"How about next week?" Lorenzo teased.
Jia smiled. "Why not? I'll send Yifan and the kids to bring you home."
