It was quiet. Not a sound was heard within the greenhouse.
At least, that's what Charles thought.
The monkey had gotten back from whatever he had planned out for the day. However, his plans were interrupted.
Not even a minute in and the greenhouse's silent alarm had triggered.
It could've been a rodent who found its way inside, but it couldn't hurt to find out right?
He shrugged it off as he gazed around, looking for anything that was out of place.
All of the professor's test tubes were neatly and carefully in their usual spots on the shelf.
Blueprints and files were in the cabinets alphabetically ordered.
And the floors were spotless.
Charles sighed as he was about to make his way back through the entrance, he heard a click.
He looked around and noticed the one place that only the professor could venture to was suddenly opening up.
"Had the professor returned so soon? No of course not," Charles thought for a moment and decided to hide to catch the intruder in the act.
So, before it could fully open, Charles hid within the tall plants the professor had experimented on.
"Be careful with that, you idiot! I want this box carried to our trunk ASAP!"
"Y-yes sir!"
Charles watched as two men stood near the entrance of the mysterious, hidden room attempting to stay as quiet as possible. Charles carefully moved a bit of tall grass from his view so he could make out the faces of the intruders.
A sudden wave of shock filled Charles' expression as he became familiarized with one of the intruder's faces.
"Sir Maynott, what exactly do you plan on using these things?" the shorter male asked him as he straighten his tie.
"That is to be decided by our brilliant comrade who broke me out of that insufferable cell I was held in," Maynott exclaimed, "The two of us made a deal with one another! He helps me get revenge on that flea and I help him with that mangey feline."
Charles huffed and was about to retreat when he was suddenly snatched up by his collar, "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle, looks like we've got ourselves a spy."
"The coot's flea-infested primate!"
"Indeed. Take him with us! I want him to be the first to witness his whole livelihood's downfall."
"Of course,"Maynott looked to the shorter man with a glare, "You heard the man, get a move on!"
"O-of course, sir! Right away, sir!" the shorter man frantically took both the box and the monkey to their truck outside.
"Sorry, small monkey, but you'll have to ride in back with the box," the man apologized towards Charles as he put the box inside the trunk as well as Charles that sat inside a cage.
Charles huffed.
He hadn't planned to be captured anytime soon in his schedule, not to mention being captured by the former commissioner and the professor's ex lab assistant.
Although, he was more concerned about what they planned on doing to not only him, but [Name], the professor and their friends.
And how were they to save him if there wouldn't be a clue on his whereabouts? Charles sighed. Then it hit him.
He noticed a small can of paint stand next to him and the mysterious box that was place near him. He lit up and tried to reach over and grab the can.
Successfully doing so, he needed something to pop off the lid. He began searching quickly as he heard the group returning.
