Jacob was right, I did miss Billys steak. I also found myself realizing just how much I also missed their company.
I smiled to myself as I watched all of the boys practically wrestle for the last steak. I have no idea where they put all of this food, they had like, three each.
Billy rolled his eyes and gestured for me to follow him down the hall towards the back of the house.
"It's not much," He opened the door to my old bedroom," but I hope you'll be comfortable."
I smiled at him and stepped inside, turning around in a circle as a bunch of memories from a year ago came rushing back to me. I tried my best to tune the invasive thoughts out and turned back to Billy.
"Of course, it's perfect. Thank you again, for letting me stay here."
"You're family, you are always welcome," He gave me a small smile before clapping his hands together, "now, I'll go tell the boys to grab your things."
I stepped forward, "that's alright, I can grab them."
"Those boys are always looking for a way to get rid of some energy," He began to turn in his wheelchair and back towards the hallway, "get settled in, you've had a long day I'm sure."
He went back down the hallway, and I could hear him telling the boys to grab my things from the car. Immediately I heard them shoot up and scramble towards the door, betting each other who could take the most boxes.
I took a moment to look around the room. A big window faced the backyard, with white drapes on either side of it. The walls were cream, still sporting some pictures and fairy lights I had hung up when I stayed here last year. I sat down on the queen bed that was across from the window. Looking at the dresser, I planned out in my head how I was going to fit all of my clothes. Living in Seattle had definitely grown my collection.
I turned my head as I heard footsteps and laughs coming towards my room, down the hallway. My eyebrows raised in shock as Jacob, Quill, and Embry all pushed each other and stumbled in, collectively carrying all of my things. Which is not a small number of things.
"Hey! We got your things, Jacobs carrying the most but mine is the heaviest so I win." Embry smirks and puts the boxes down.
"It's not a competition dipshit." Jacob rolls his eyes and sets his down as well.
"Yeah you're right, but if it was, I would win. I carried the kitchen boxes too." Quill argues back. Embry scoffs going to disagree with him, but Jacob cuts him off.
"What's in the kitchen boxes anyways? We have everything you need here."
"Oh, just a few gadgets that I got when I moved to Seattle, I figured they might be easier for Billy to use as well."
The boy's eyebrows shot up as Embry and Quill sprinted to the kitchen, eager to see what was in the boxes.
I chuckled and looked back to Jacob, "Thank you, by the way. For bringing in the boxes and letting me into your home."
He waved his hand, "It's your home too now. Don't mention it."
"WHOAAAAA!" I heard two voices come from the kitchen.
I laughed and Jacob had a curious look on his face.
"Come on," I gestured towards the door, "let me show you what I brought."
-------------------------
"What does this do?" Embry asked, staring in fascination at my espresso machine.
"It makes lattes and coffees. You just pop in the little pod and then milk right here, and press the button." I explained, gesturing to the machine.
"And then it makes coffee?" Quill asked.
I laughed and nodded, "And then it makes coffee."
I quickly popped in a pod and filled up the milk tank before pressing the start button. Once it was done I handed it to Embry, leaning back against the sink as he took a sip. He took a sip, and then pulled the mug down slowly, eyes widening.
"Jake," he starts, "I am never leaving your house."
I laugh as Jake rolls his eyes.
Billy speaks up from the table, "This is very thoughtful of you Adair, thank you."
I smiled at him, delighted that he liked my addition, "no problem! The least I can do."
"Oh!" Jacob started seemingly remembering something, "You want to come to a...err...thing? Tonight?"
I looked back at him, "A thing?"
"Yeah, a- oof!" Embry starts but is cut off by Quill elbowing him in the stomach.
I looked at all of them confused. Where did they want to bring me?
"It doesn't matter where just dress warm and we'll grab you at 6," Jacob said, slowly walking back towards the door, tugging the two other boys with him.
"Uh, okay?" I nodded.
"Alright great! See you later Addy!" Embry called, them all running out the door before I could ask any more questions.
I looked at Billy with a confused look on my face. He just chuckled and shrugged before wheeling into the living room.
I sighed, what are these boys up to?
-----------------------------------------------
I sat on the couch dressed and ready to go. They had given me very little direction as to what we were actually doing, so I decided on a beige hoodie with boots, leggings, and my oversized jacket over top. Comfy and casual, but put together.
I jumped slightly as Embry, Quill, then Jacob came barreling through the door.
"Ready to go to the fire Addy?" Embry asked, basically jumping up and down in excitement.
"Dude! Shut the fuck up!" Jacob and Quill immediately turned towards Embry and smacked him.
Embry's face fell in realization and panic as he realized what he just revealed.
I shot up and backed towards the kitchen, "no way."
"Addy-" Jacob started, slowly advancing towards me.
"No way! You know exactly why too!" I glared at him, crossing my arms and standing my ground.
"It'll be fine! He won't be there!" Jacob looked away from me and scratched his head.
"I thought he said he was going?" Quill asked.
Jacob shot him a look as Embry smacked his forehead.
"Oh. Oops." Quill smiled sheepishly.
"See! I absolutely do not want to see him again. Nu-uh no fucking way. You'll have to drag me out of here." I shook my head and glared again at him.
He and the boys exchanged a look, silently communicating with each other. They all looked back at me and suspiciously smiled.
"Oh alright, I guess I'll just grab a coffee before I go..." Jacob trailed off, beginning to walk towards me.
I eyed him but stepped out of his way, my back turned to Embry and Quill.
"Now!" Jacob called from in front of me. I suddenly felt hands on my waist as I was flipped around and placed on a shoulder.
"Ay, yo what the fuck!? Put me down! I'm not going!" I called out while upside down.
They all laughed as Embry, who was carrying me, put me down in the passenger seat.
"You said we would have to drag you out, we thought carrying you might be nicer."
I huffed and crossed my arms as Quill climbed into the back seat.
Guess I'm going to the fire.
