Chapter Eight

Just when the clock struck half past seven in the evening, Light began to hear Edric calling her name right outside of her room.

"Are you not ready yet, Saraqael?", she heard him ask as he took a peek of her through the space of her door which she left slightly ajar.

Taking a good look at her outfit on her vanity mirror for one last time, she let out a breath and kept her wristwatch in check.

Since she opted for a plain puff sleeved mid shirt dress, she had to hide her marks with concealers, not that it was a hard thing to do since on nights like this, it is easier for her to hide their existence from other people.

"Wow.", Edric exclaimed as he went near her. "You look amazing as always, Saraqael. Nice dress, by the way. Mother is going to be proud of you." 

Upon his statement, she had to roll her eyes on him.

"Stop trying to flatter me, Edric. It won't do you any good.", she replied with a flat expression on her face.

He just laughed at her expense though, making her think that the nerve of this guy never cease to amaze her ever since meeting and living with him.

"I'm just telling the truth. You look much pleasing in the eyes without those long sleeves."

Light just shook her head at him and gave him her purse as she tried to stand up and glance at her mirror.

Once she is satisfied with what she saw, she took her things from his hands and gestured him to leave her room with her.

"With you trying to hover and smother me tonight, I might just get late for dinner, Edric.", she cannot help not to point out as she noticed him still staring at her like as if she isn't trying to make herself look decent at most times.

"I just feel like what I am doing is changing you, in a good way, Saraqael. And it makes me proud.", he stated while wiping some fake tears under his eyes to make himself convincing but he ended up looking silly in her eyes.

She almost snorted but decided against it. She just looked at him sternly just so they would get going already. Time is ticking anyway.

Even though it was a simple arrangement for a reunion, Lyric was kind enough to invite Edric even just as her plus one and the latter was beyond ecstatic upon learning about it.

Clearly, he is more excited about the free lavish food that he might experience with her friends.

She wouldn't be so surprised if her friends would like her brother from another mother then since he is too easy to please, not to mention, a sucker for good food. You would have to doubt that he is filthy rich because of how he acts.

"Don't think that you are off the hook already though. I still want to have my revenge on you so you better watch your back, Edric.", she told him sweetly as they went out of the cabin and secured its locks.

When she eyed him with a sharp gaze, he just ignored her but almost ran off to the car that they are going to use since they are both dressed up and the heels that she is using isn't so friendly when it comes to lengthy walks.

If he thinks that she already forgot about what he did to her even though it didn't cause so much trouble, he is still in for her trick one way or another. She cannot just choose which idea would appeal for her revenge.

"Seatbelts, please.", she heard him say as soon as they got into his car.

The venue wasn't exactly so far from their cabin and the underwater aquarium that she went with Callan.

Speaking of which, after their exploration, Callan had to leave her in a hurry as soon as he walked her back to the cabin of where she and Edric are staying.
