Charlotte's POV
Today is the day; Graduation day. All the years of being in school, getting papers written and math problems solved has come to this. My classmates and I gathered in the gym where we all took last minuet photos and videos. I got with some classmates and we talked about the past four years of your lives together and now we are going to go are own ways. Some were going straight to work and others were going to continue their education like me. Our class advisers tell us to start lining up to walk outside and be ready for the ceremony to start. I am in the front of the class; not only because of my last name but I am the class Valedictorian. As I look back at my classmates, boys in blue cap and gowns and the girls in white caps and gowns, I see smiles and laughter. I remember all the memories and jokes that echoed not only in this gym, but the hallways and classrooms of this school.
After walking out to the gate, the band started Pomp and Circumstance and we walked on our blue and white track to the football field where our graduation ceremony was held. We had a small graduating class; about 150 students or so. The principle talked as well as I and the other top three students. Then one by one each student was called.
"Charlotte Ann Bradley, Valedictorian, Major: English. College: UCL." My principle announced me. I walk up the set of steps, shook his hand and accepted my diploma. I look out at the audience and see Joey Anna and Aunt Jinny cheering and screaming. Aunt Jinny was crying and mouthed, "so proud." Joey and Anna made signs saying "Charlotte's #1." I shed a small tear and walked back to my seat as the rest of my class was called.
Once the last name was called, I got back up on stage to do the tassel ceremony. I instructed everyone to rise and move their tassels from the left og their cap to the right. Then I spoke to my class one last time.
"As by the state and by the school, we, the class of 2012 have and are officially graduates! CONGRATULATIONS!!" I yell with pride. We all took our caps and threw them high in the air. Green Days- Time Of Your Life played in the stadium speakers. I loved this song and it was perfect for the occasion After finding my cap, I went to give final hugs and pictures with my classmates. Tears and laughter was shared again, just like before the ceremony.
"CHARLOTTE!" I heard two familiar voices call me. I see both Joey and Anna running to me. I crouch down and catch them both in my arms.
"We are proud of you! We love you! Your speech was great!" was all they could say.
"Thanks little ones. It means a lot to me that you are proud of your big sis. I did it for you guys." I told them, standing up and holding both of their hands. Aunt Jinny joined up and we walked into the sunset. I look back once more and smile. High school; this chapter of my life is complete. I'm ready to enjoy my summer and head off to UCL in the beginning of August.
