Song: Happy by Natasha Bedingfield
Aunt Jinny's POV
It's been two months since Charlotte had opened those files I gave her and she finally knew the truth about her parents. Two months of crying, asking questions, and 'what if's'. But she has done more than just mope around; Charlotte has applied to at least five different colleges in and out of the USA. She has gotten all but one acceptance letter; UCL (University College of London). That is where her heart is set on, her first choice. It's on of the top five colleges in London and they have the best English program across the pond.
I'm off today from working my three jobs and the mail man come to my door with todays mail.
"Hey there Jinny." he says with a smile.
"Hey Erik. Anything good today?" I asked him.
"Charlotte might have finally gotten that last acceptance letter from UCL." Erick tell me, hading me today's mail. There was a big white envelope with that UCL logo in the left corner and it was addressed to 'Miss Charlotte Ann Bradley'. A huge smile cam upon my face and I hugged Erik.
"Thank you so much! I hope it's good news!" I tell him happily.
"Don't thank me, Jinny. I just deliver the mail. I didn't write the letters or make up number for your bills." He says and we both laugh. Erik waves goodbye as he continues on his route to delivers more mail to my neighbors. I went inside and placed the mail on the table.
Joey and Anna got home from school before Charlotte did today. I thought it would be a good idea to have the three of us come up with some way to celebrate Charlotte's acceptance to all five of her college choices.
"Hi Aunt Jinny!" Both Joey and Anna said in unison.
"Welcome home you guys. How was school today?" I ask them.
"Great! I learned about the Civil War!" Joey said with excitment. He loved learning about our Nation's History.
"That's great!" I replied with a smile. "And what about you Anna?"
"In science class today we learned about chemical reactions! Man it was sooo COOL!" Anna told me with emphasis on the "soo" part.
"I'm glad you guys a great day today. Now, I have good news. I think Charlotte got her last letter from UCL today, and I think it's good news." Joey and Anna both gasped with smiles growing on their faces.
"Charlotte will be so happy!" Joey said to Anna. She just nodded in agreement.
The three of us sat down at the table to get their homework done. Charlotte got me in the habit of doing this while I was off from work. I really did enjoy have my sister's kids. They act and think like her, but they are their own person. The front door opens and closes bringing Charlotte home from school. I get up to hug her.
"Hey honey," I say as I hug her. "Did you have a good day?"
"I guess. Tammy got her letter for UCL two days ago, but she's not going. I still haven't gotten mine yet. I don't think I got in Aunt Jinny." she tells me.
"That's what you think!" Joey and Anna say in unison, holding the envelope in their hands. They hand it to Charlotte and she gasps, then she screams.
"OH MY GOD!" she yelled. Charlotte ripped open the envelope and took out the booklet, letter and something else that I couldn't tell what it was.
"Well? What does it say? Are you in or what?" Joey, Anna and I ask, waiting impatiently.
"I...I got IN!! I got in to UCL! My dream college!!" bursting with a smile and tears she cried. The four of us grouped hugged and shared 'Congratulations' to Char. "Not only did I get in, they sent me airline tickets to get me other there in August! I can started sending my stuff for my room after graduation." she told us.
It was really happening; Charlotte, my niece, got into her dream college, UCL. She was going to live her dream. Nobody is going to stop her...except for maybe Joey and Anna.
