A/N: Here is a brand-new chapter! I am soooo sorry for the very long and unannounced hiatus. I had finals come up in school, and then a lot of other stuff happened. I also kind of lost track of where I was going with the story so my motivation to write it went way down...but I AM BACK. I don't know how often I'll update because I still have school and I'm still busy, but it definitely won't be once a year haha.
"Father?" Adrien asked, standing in the doorway of his father's office.
"Yes?" Gabriel asked, his eyes focused on the computer in front of him.
"Can I talk to you for a moment?" Adrien asked.
"Yes," Gabriel said. Adrien perked up. "I'll have Nathalie see if she can squeeze some time into my schedule later today," he continued. Adrien deflated.
"Thanks," he mumbled before exiting the office. He headed out of the front door of his mansion and sat down on the curb while he waited for Kagami's car. He sighed and stared down at the pavement.
"Your father sure is something else, isn't he?" Plagg asked.
"Yeah," Adrien said downheartedly.
"I'm sure you'll be able to talk to him later," Plagg said.
"I don't know, Plagg. He rarely makes time for me," Adrien said heavily. He heard the sound of a car approaching and stood up. He opened the car door and got in before buckling his seat belt.
"Hey! Is...everything alright, Adrien?" Kagami asked. Adrien sighed and propped up his head with his hand, staring out the window.
"Yeah," he said. "I just wish my father would talk to me more."
"My mother talks to me too much. I wish she'd talk to me less. You should feel lucky," Kagami said. Adrien sighed and continued to stare out of the window. When they were close to the school, Adrien saw Marinette running towards the school, a croissant in her mouth. Her eyes widened and she suddenly sprinted even faster.
"Tatsu, stop!" Kagami suddenly shouted. Adrien was thrown forward and his seatbelt locked as the car screeched to a halt. He turned to look out the front window.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Tatsu nearly ran over a kid," Kagami said.
"What!?" Adrien exclaimed. He unbuckled and got out of the car, quickly hurrying around it to make sure that no one had gotten hurt. He saw Marinette and a little boy lying on the sidewalk and walked over to them.
"Are you okay?" he asked, helping the little boy up and then helping Marinette up. Marinette didn't get the chance to answer as someone interrupted their conversation.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! You saved my little boy!" a woman gushed, rushing up to them and hugging Marinette. She let go and took her little boy's hand. "You're not supposed to cross the street without mommy," she scolded him gently.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"Are you hurt?" the mother asked him as they began to walk away.
"No," the little boy said. Adrien focused his attention on Marinette, who reddened and smiled.
"That was really brave of you," he said.
"O-Oh, thank you," she said.
"Should we walk to school together?" he asked. Marinette was about to answer when Kagami interrupted.
"Adrien? Are you coming?" she asked. Adrien glanced back to see that she had rolled down the car window.
"Uh..." He rubbed the back of his neck indecisively.
