From Superhero to Cinderella

Chapter 12

A/n: Sorry it took me so long to post this chapter! I hope you guys enjoy! From this moment on, the story is gonna start picking up its pace and the ending will be getting nearer! (Not that it will be ending soon lol. There are still a few chapters left to go. Dunno how many but this is definitely a chapter that will speed things up.) Also, I pulled my inspiration for this chapter from a video on youtube called "Elevator Romance Gone Wrong" by Studio C. Y'all should go watch it. It's pretty great. Sorry this note got so long lol. Marinette had been determined to have a good week since she'd found out that Adrien and Kagami had broken up, but in fact, that had been the highlight of her week. After she'd heard that news on Monday, she'd spent the rest of the week swamped with chores and homework. Not to mention the akuma fights, patrols, and a couple of sentimonsters. By Saturday morning, she was exhausted. She burned some of the desserts she was making for the bakery and Audrey threatened to cancel her date with Luka. Alya was supposed to come over around 3 P.M. to help her get ready for her date at 4.

At lunchtime, Marinette had just made lunch for Audrey and had just sat down to eat her own lunch, her body aching and sore, when she heard screams coming from outside. She groaned. She stuffed as much food as she could into her mouth before dashing outside and into a nearby alley. She didn't dare risk going back upstairs and running past Audrey.

"Tikki, spots on!" she called, feeling her transformation take over. Her aches and sores receded, though they were still slightly there. She grabbed her yoyo and swung away, more ready for a nap then to fight an akuma.

Cat Noir was both impressed and unimpressed with today's akuma. He looked like a college professor, wearing a white dress shirt and black dress pants and brown dress shoes. His outfit was complete with a black and white striped tie. He was waving a piece of chalk around the air, shouting out math equations as he wrote them on the cement. He called himself 'The Mathematician,' and Cat Noir could see why. Any of the equations he wrote on the ground and shouted out would cause the ground to shoot up into a line, parabola, sine graph, and other things that Cat Noir wasn't even sure what they were. He'd never known math to do so much damage.

"Didn't anyone ever tell you that algebra isn't necessary for most of your life?" Cat Noir complained as another line of bricks shot up in front of his face.

"It is if you want to be an engineer!" the Mathematician shouted back, still running away. How he was running and drawing equations, Cat Noir had no idea. He had to admit that this guy was good. He heard a soft thump beside him and turned to see Ladybug next to him.

"Good to see you came to class, M'lady," Cat Noir winked at her. Now that he wasn't dating Kagami, he was once again free to flirt with Ladybug as much as he liked. She didn't even acknowledge his quip, looking exhausted.

"Who are we fighting today?" she asked tiredly.

"The Mathematician. He writes equations on the ground, turning it into those equations," Cat Noir replied.

"Joy," she said sarcastically. Cat Noir blinked in shock. He knew Ladybug to be many things, but sarcastic was not one of them.

She must have had a very hard week. I wish she would tell me more about her home life, he sighed. "Let's get this over with so we can sine off," he said, pulling out his baton. Ladybug groaned at that pun, and he grinned as they chased after the enemy.

The akuma fight had taken what felt like forever. It had really only taken a half hour or so, but it had extremely drained Ladybug, who was already exhausted. The fight had somehow ended on rooftops of tall buildings, close to the Bourgeois' hotel. After getting rid of her lucky charm, Ladybug had found out the man was able to make it home on his own, which was good for her, as she was nearly about to detransform. She swung towards the Bourgeois' hotel, knowing of a good hiding spot on the roof and not wanting to find another one in her exhausted state.
