Chapter Eight: Longing Among Lies

"The yearning for a mother can never be changed."

                                                            ╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝

The two siblings sat inside the greenish blue model of the flying car. One was pale and looking stern, the other was white with shock. The tweet of the birds and the rustle of the green leaves were the only sound heard.

"K-kill? What do we do? What the ruddy hell do I do?! He probably won't listen to ol' me!" Ron exclaimed. He was still as white as ever and his freckles stood out. Ginny looked thoughtful.

"I'll write a letter to him," she suggested.

"What if he can't see your writing?" Ron asked. Ginny sighed. Suddenly, the elder brother's face lit up. "Ginny, write a letter to him," he said. Ginny looked up at him.

"Are you sure? What if he can't see?"

"I will take care of it, write!" Ron said and immediately got out of the car, "I will bring my wand and parchment."

With that, he hurried into his house. His wand was lying where he had left it - on the mantle of the fireplace. He found a muggle notebook on the rack near the couch and took it out, tearing a page as he summoned a self-inking quill. He found the Tales of Beedle The Bard lying on the mantle of the fireplace, so he grabbed that too.

He rushed out of the house as soon as he had what he required. Ginny was standing outside the car, which was now under the shade of a tall tree in his lawn. He figured she had moved it. As soon as he approached the car, he handed the things to her. Ginny took it instantly and using the car as a supporting pad, she began scribbling her letter. Soon enough, she was done with it and she gave it to her brother.

"Nothing too err. . .private, right?" Ron asked. Ginny raised her eyebrows then shook her head. Ron took his wand and pointed it at the paper. He then took out another sheet, which he had torn from the same muggle notebook, and placed it on the car. He proceeded to mutter a charm under his breath and writings appeared on the blank sheet as the writings in the original letter started disappearing. When the original letter was completely blank, he stopped his charm and took a look at the copied letter. Part of it was in his handwriting but it still looked satisfactory. He used an advanced charm used for forging notes. He had learnt it in a book that Hermione had of Magical Law Enforcement. She, of course, did not know about him learning it. He placed the parchment inside the story book and entered the car.

"As much as I want to apparate, I don't want to leave you behind, Ginny."

"What about Jamie?" Ginny asked, looking towards the house. Ron's eyes widened and he ran out of the car and into the house. Jamie was sleeping on the couch. Or rather, he was pretending to. He had tear tracks running down his small face and his lips were turned down in a sad expression. His hair was as messy as his father's and he was lying on his tummy. Ron walked over to him and gently nudged him. He turned his head to look at his godfather.

"Come on, Jamie. Let's go to daddy," Ron said gently. James shook his head.

"I don't want to."

"And why would brave James Sirius Potter not want to see his dad?" Ron asked.

"B-because Daddy lied! Daddy lied to Jamie!" James exclaimed angrily. This kid had inherited both his parents' trait of outburst during rage, Ron thought.

"About what?" Ron asked.

"Don't ask! Even you lied, Ronny!" Jamie shouted. Ron sighed. He understood what lie he was talking about.

"James, I will buy you a ch-" Ron started but was cut off.

"I don't need chocos! I need mumma! I need mumma back!" Jamie exclaimed. The sound of a car pulling up was heard and Ron looked toward the window. In a few seconds, a worried looking Ginny came and stood there, on the other side. Ron shook his head to her and she looked down.

"James. You were named after your grandfather and father's godfather, you know? Your father's godfather used to say this to your father when he was young," Ron said and raised his hand to James' chest. "Those who love us never truly leave us. You can always find them in here," Ron said, placing his hand on James' chest, where his heart should be. Silent tears were making their way down the little boy's face and Ron wanted to join him as well but he knew that he had to keep up the brave godfather act. "And now, as your godfather, I say the same thing to you, James. Your father is a great man. I wonder how he is even sane. He has lost so many, several people who he held close to his heart. Yet, he is strong. Even after all the trauma he has gone through. James, your mother is nothing less. She is very brave and isn't afraid of anyone, you know? There are several stories I would like to narrate all day long to you. Stories of your parents. Your grandparents and so on but I am afraid that I am not as brave or great enough to tell that to you, son," Ron said gently. James nodded lightly. "Come on, James. Your dad is going to do a seri-err I mean Sirius job and we need to stop him," Ron joked. James laughed.

"You are Sirius?" James asked. "I'm only joking! I am Sirius!" James exclaimed childishly. Ron grinned and ruffled his hair. "Hey! Ronny, stop! It's already messy!" Ron laughed and picked his godson up in his arms and carried him to the car which was now standing right outside the door. Ginny was smiling at them but Ron knew her well enough to see the tears that were glistening in her eyes.

The three of them drove to the ministry entrance. While on the way, Ron saw, through the mirror in the front, Ginny ruffling James' hair. What surprised him was that James' really did get ruffled. It was not by the wind for sure as all the windows were closed. There was no other way his hair would get more messy without anyone doing so. At this thought, James lay down on the car seat and he slowly fell asleep as a soft song played through the car's radio. Ron was surprised. Ginny could actually feel James! Ron wanted to experiment this with Harry as well but before that, he had to find Harry.

I think it was a rather short chapter which looked lengthy due to the paragraphs. So I will end it here. I hope you liked this chapter!
