Chapter Twenty Five: The Bet

"Jealousy and greed makes human do things they otherwise wouldn't."

Ginny was woken up from her slumber when I voice shrieked from inside her house. Oreo started barking aggressively and she to calm the little fur ball down before slowly steering the car towards the hall window. What she witnessed inside shocked her.

It was Isabelle. Her long red hair was let down and her arms were on her hips as she stared at an angry looking Harry. Ginny got out of the car and moved closer to eavesdrop on them.

"What do you mean by no?" Isabelle asked.

"You very well know what it means, Miss. I am NOT marrying you for Merlin's sake so it will be greatly appreciated of you leave right now and never come back," Harry shot back. Behind him was a frightened looking Teddy, holding onto a shaking James and a sobbing Albus. Ginny felt her heart ache. The kids have never witnessed Harry's temper and even when it was not directed towards them, he could be intimidating. Ginny wanted nothing more than console them all, with the exception of Isabelle of course, but that was not legit.

"Is that your decision?" Isabelle asked and Harry nodded sternly. She snorted and made her way towards the door but before she left, she turned around to face him. "Mark my words, Potter! You and your little brats won't live long enough. Especially the ones which my nasty cousin gave you."

Ginny could sense Harry's ill-concealed anger then as he shot back. "My kids cannot be touched! Never!"

Isabelle left after that and silence reigned. Albus started crying by now and Harry ran to the little boy to comfort him. With Albus in his arms, Teddy and James gave him a tight hug. Even her bravest boys could not hold in their tears.

Anger bubbled inside Ginny. Vicious anger at Isabelle for causing her family distress. The vile redhead would not know what would strike her soon and Ginny would make sure of it.

That evening, Ron stood in his garage, his eyebrows crossed. "Are you sure you heard that?" he asked tentatively. Ginny nodded.

"Yes."

"She's going to try to harm the kids then, I mean, before killing Harry?"

"Before killing Harry, yes."

"Mhm. I can arrest her but I don't have a solid proof–" Ron was cut off.

"But Ron! I heard her!"

"You are an entity, Ginny! A ghost of sorts who can be seen by me and me alone! Even Harry can't see you and it doesn't matter if dogs can see you because they can't speak! I need a solid proof to get her in custody and given the fact that she is family, the ministry might need a real proof that this is no itty bitty family feud," Ron explained.

"How about Veritaserum? Maybe Harry could be –" Ginny started but Ron interrupted her this time.

"And how the ruddy hell will I explain that Harry is under my custody?" he questioned. Ginny sighed and the engines gave a tiny roar. "Look, Ginny. I know you are worried but I can talk to Harry to secure the house until I find her house. If I find her house and have Hermione do a raid of Magical Law Enforcement, I'm sure we can find a confiscated thing or two. With that, we can get her in Auror custody and then she can be trialed," he suggested.

"That seems legit but just one mistake –"

"And our history will just go down. I know but my brother-in-law's and nephews' lives are more important than my reputation and past history," Ron said resolutely. Ginny nodded in agreement.

"Is there anything that I can do?" she asked.

"Not yet, no but Harry has to attend to my questioning tomorrow, whether he likes it or not."

"What will you answer if he asks how you came to kn–" Ginny was cut short by the loud banging on the garage shutter. Ron hurried to open it and when he did, he was met by a tensed looking Hermione.

"Hermione? What happened? Are you alright?" Ron asked, alarmed by the sweat dripping down her face.

"Ron! Harry – floo-called! There is a problem! Hurry!" she panted.

"I'll there in a second. Gotta pick my wand," Ron answered. Hermione nodded and left. His gaze shifted to look at Ginny.

"What if – what if she did something?! I can't keep everything together. . ." she said slowly, the panic was hidden in her voice. Oreo barked before running to him. Ron kneeled down before the little puppy.

"Oreo. . . they say dogs can sense danger. . . is our alarm worth your sixth sense?" he asked in a shaking voice. It felt like he had suddenly lost his mind and thinking capacity. However, Oreo had other plans. It barked and shook its head in negative. "Oreo thinks it isn't an immense problem."

"Ron. . . please take me along," Ginny begged, ignoring his last sentence.

"No, Ginny. It will take a lot of time if I drive to the Manor. I better get going now. I will be back soon, I swear. Oreo, look after her." With that said, Ron ran out of the garage and sealed the shutter with magic. He did not want the Ford Angelia flying without a driver to the Manor. Hermione was waiting for him by the floo network. "Where is Ros–"

"At the Burrow. Mrs Weasley is taking care of her and the Potter kids too. Come on now!" she ordered before grabbing arm and throwing some floo powder into the fire. The fire blazed green and they stepped in together, changing the name of their destination very clearly.

Ron stumbled out of the fireplace, coughing. "Harry!" Hermione exclaimed in greeting before giving him a hug.

"Is this about Isabelle?" Ron blurted out, unable to keep it in. Harry looked blank for a second before nodding. "Then come on! We need to secure this place. We can't let her get to you and my nephews!"

"Wait, hold on a second. How do you know about that?" Hermione probed, her eyebrows furrowed.

"Blimey Hermione! An Auror knows everything besides this is no time for chit chat! We need to get to work. Use all the spells you used while we were on the run, love," he said, hoping to evade the situation. However, her inquisitive stare did not leave him.

"They might not work. . . She knows the location," Harry stated.

"What actually is the problem?" Hermione asked irritably. That was her nature. If not supplied with enough information, she could get annoyed and by that, Ron meant extremely annoyed.

Harry shook his head before speaking. "I will explain the problem but I need you guys to be my secret keepers."

Cliffhanger! Well, not really. . .
