Chapter Ten: The Sad Status
"Family first. They are the only ones who care a deal about you."

Ron was upset. Hermione had just passed the message from Bill, his eldest brother that there will be a family dinner at The Burrow, the next day. That was not how Ron wanted to spend his Sunday. He wanted to take Hermione, Rose and an invisible to all but him, Ginny out to some muggle shopping place. He even planned to sneak an ice cream for Ginny when Hermione and Rose weren't looking. This family event just extinguished that fire. When he told Hermione that he will probably skip the whole thing, she chided him, leading to an heated argument. Fuming, Ron left to the garage where his flying Ford Angelia and Ginny would be.
"Ginny?" Ron asked as he lifted the heavy shutter of the garage, allowing streaks of sunlight to pass through. As soon as he came in, he shut it. The whole garage was void of light, but only for a moment. The headlights of the Angelia flashed, stimulating Ron to shield his eyes. A sound of laughter filled his ears and without even knowing, his frowning lips turned up in a merry smile. He walked to the back door of the car and opened it. Ginny was looking at him with a smug smile. Ron grinned back and sat beside her.
"Early today?" Ginny asked.
"Am I? Thought it was noon," Ron answered. Ron checked his watch. It was half past noon. "Yep, it's half past noon."
"Lost track of time," Ginny shrugged. "I felt tension. What's the reason?" she asked. Ron shrugged.
"Bill is hosting a family event. Probably for everyone to cheer up just like how it happened after Fred's. . .you know," Ron explained. Ginny nodded. "I don't want to go. I was in fact planning to take Rose, Hermione and you to some muggle shopping spree."
"Ron, I appreciate you thinking about us but our family needs you. You can console them, Ron," Ginny said. Ron shook his head.
"I don't want to meet them now. Not now."
"And why would you say that?!" Ginny asked.
"I might give away this secret. My blurting mouth," Ron reasoned.
"Then tell them, Ron!" Ginny exclaimed. Ron shook his head.
"No one would believe me. They will think I've gone insane. . .or worse, I've sunk into a depression!" Ron argued.
"You need to sort out your priorities, Ron," Ginny said, intending to joke but Ron took it seriously.
"You don't know because you don't have to face them! Why? Because you are not here and will never be! You are just some fragment of Ginny's soul! I am not going and that's ruddy said!" Ron shouted then hastily got out of the car, slammed the door and walked out of the garage without even turning back.
Ginny was left all alone to blink as the headlights dimmed, indicating her sadness. She was not guilty, nor was she feeling remorseful because she knew that she was right and that Ron was being a coward. She sighed.
"What if Ron doesn't want me here?" Ginny asked to the silent walls. "Maybe I should leave."

Bill Weasley was hustling about at The Burrow. He had asked everyone of his family to attend the family dinner which he would be hosting tomorrow. Ginny's murder brought in the much unwanted melancholy to the family and he was going to repair it. He knew that he can never replace anything with his dead sister. Ginny was, after all, a cute sister, a dutiful daughter, a loyal friend, a passionate wife and a loving mother. No one would be able to replace her in his life. That hole would forever remain empty but he would let it to recover, to mend it self, if not fully but at least partially. He had to stay strong. There was reason why he was known as the bravest Weasley brother but just because he was the eldest, it did not mean he had no heart. He had lifted, cradled and cared for Ginny just as she was born. That tiny bundle that he was handed by his father back when he was child would always remain dear to him. He played with her, carried her around, helped with her hair, showed her magic tricks and even told her stories. Bill almost felt a fatherly connection to Ginny but he knew that it was only brotherly. The little Ginny who played with him, massaged him and sang him songs had grown so much that she went to fight a war though she was underage and unqualified. She survived the war with countable scars but still she stayed strong, always being there for him, for their family and for Harry. Bill knew very well that it was Ginny who pulled the Boy-Who-Lived from his pit of misery, tended to his physical and mental scars and made him feel the one emotion he so longer all his life - love. And to think that the world had lost such a fierce and caring woman to acts of cruelty was a huge disappointment to the eldest Weasley son.
Shaking his head out of his reverie, Bill stirred the dough. He was working on baking a cake and his beautiful wife, Fleur was helping him. If it wasn't for Fleur, Bill knew very well that he would have sunk into the same pit every living Weasley member was in. Talking to her and looking after his children was a precious task to Bill. It greatly helped to elate his melancholic mood.
A pleasant surprise greeted Bill as he flooed to the Potter Manor to inform Harry Potter, his only brother-in-law, of the family gathering. He could just not stop thinking about it.
Bill found Harry on the floor, teaching James to write whilst he rocked baby Albus on his lap. The soft expression that his brother-in-law wore came as a great shock to the eldest Weasley. Bill knew that deep down, Harry was still mourning. He was just putting on a mask on going on with life's path. However, the smile that Harry returned when Bill thanked him after inviting seemed to, in Bill's eyes, be a genuine and thankful one. A thought would often cross the eldest Weasley brother's mind but he would quickly dismiss it as false. There can never be a treason in Harry's love for Ginny and Bill knew that very well, having fallen in love with his wife, Fleur.
This made him feel lighter about Harry's recovery. However he was extremely worries about his parents and George. He knew that Charlie would try and snap out of it. That was what he did for Fred. Percy would try and forget it by crowding his brain with work. Ron seemed to do okay but he might be hiding emotions. George, on the other hand, seemed pale to have lost yet another sibling. Bill knew, for a fact, that the twins and Ginny were partners-in-crime and this might have affected the stranded twin.
All of Bill's sisters-in-law seemed to be the pillar of the house. They - hiding all their sadness and melancholy - keep the house up and going. Fleur seemed to be the in-charge being the eldest and no one seemed to mind that.
His parents on the other hand were trying to get out of the hole but they were toiling and flailing, falling back into the pit of grief. Prior to going to work at the Ministry, his father had shut himself in his garage for the first three days but since then, he had been as lively as he could, trying to crack muggle related jokes for Harry to laugh about. Harry in turn responded in kind, cracking few of his own jokes and telling tales about incredible muggle inventions. His mother always wore a face of mask, speaking only when spoken to, cooking only when not crying, bustling about only in the presence of her grandchildren. Bill would feel his heart shatter whenever he would walk into his mother crying. His father would always console her but Bill just could not watch his ever lively mother shed tears and the next night would be the change.
Bill determined himself, as he finished the dough, that he would do it. He would change his family's mood of sadness and make everything normal. He touched the scars on his face - a reminder of the fiercely fought battle where dear Fred was lost. This was going to be another battle and Bill would win it. He knew that. Bill looked out of the window, up at the sky praying to all the deities to help him do his mission. Mission Restore Lively Weasleys was on and Bill was the head.
I wanted a chapter separately for Bill as he is the eldest Weasley brother. I hope you guys liked this chapter!
