A surge of adrenaline raced through my veins. My breathing hasn't even become labored, it felt as if I were running with the wind. My hair whipped behind me, as my arms pumped back and forth. A strong, delicious hazel smell filled my nostrils as I neared the cliff. In a few more sprints I reached the top, where it plateaued. Almost dead center, in the middle of the flat expanse of rock was Haily. A few meters away was an overly large wolf the color of the blackest night. It was crouched in a ready to attack position, which had my heart racing. A look of something akin to recognition flashed in his/hers/its eyes. I didn't let my eyes wander to its "no no square". I redirected my attention to that of the whimpering, blubbering Haily.

I moved into action quickly, but not so fast as the large wolf would decide to devour us. I never took my eyes off of it as I carefully helped the poor girl up while murmuring calming words. I ushered her down the rocky terrain, in a rush to get her to safety.

As soon as we made it too the bottom, I interlaced our fingers and pulled her into a sprint. It must have looked quite comical due to the fact that she was sobbing like an overgrown child that lost her favorite toy, while being pulled by a significantly smaller and frantic mother.

We were nearing the edge of the sand, when my brothers came into view. Taking one look at the crying girl next to me, they handed me the car keys with a quick "see you back at the hotel" and a lot of reassuring me that they'd find the others.

I quickly helped her up into the jeep, James hopped into the back, and I made my way to the drivers side. As soon as I slid into the cushy leather seat, I started the engine and looked to the still whimpering Haily.

"Hey, hey look at me" I murmured softly while pulling out of the parking lot and on to the expanse of road.
She sniffles and bit her lip, holding back an immense wail. "it's gonna be okay" I cooed and took my eyes off the road for a second to give her a reassuring smile.

"How could you ever know?" She asked bitterly.

Without thinking, without really meaning to, I spoke with confidence "It's a gut feeling, just like I have a gut feeling it was John that hurt you."

Her face crumpled again, as a mass of tears flooded her eyes. Then they preceded to glide silently down her face again. "Mother nature, God, Goddess, whoever obviously has a different plan for you and for him too" I sighed "It will be okay."

The rest of the ride was silent, as I focused on driving and Haily looked out the window. All the while a confused James looked between the both of us, as if we were from a different world.

Finally, we reached the overly extravagant hotel with the annoying valet. My body was overly exhausted as I trudged into the lobby and to the elevator, tapping my foot to a random tune as I waited for it to reach the lobby floor. As the doors sprung open, I hoped in with the other two behind me. The doors binged open again and I quickened my pace to the room, anticipating the lovely bed that smelled of Nick. just as I reached for the handle Haileys' voice called out.

"Hey, will you" she paused contemplating her next words carefully "stay with me? Just for a few hours?" She cocked her head to the side, giving me the puppy dog eyes. Internally I groaned, but I agreed.

"Yeah sure, I don't mind" I smiled and followed her into the room. She was starting some popcorn, so I decided to pick a movie to watch.

"Hey" I called out "have you watched Unconditionally?"

"No" she yelled back "I'm up for it though!"

All I could think is that this movie might hit a little close to home. And I was right, halfway through she began to sob and then laugh and cry again. I consoled her each time she cried, and laughed with her. After the movie was done, I was just about ready to fall asleep on her couch when the door suddenly burst open. Drowsily I opened my eyes to see my other two brothers flanking a frantic Nick.

A small yawn protruded from my mouth as I mumbled a "hey guys"
Everyone looked quite shocked to see me, and Haily cuddled together on the plush couch.

"You okay?" I mumbled before everything went dark.
