Y/N didn't remember all the details of the fight. She knew she had been using a lot of spells. She hadn't found Mereoleona again until after everything was over and even then she was too exhausted to really have much of a coherent thought. The best she could do was drag herself back to the medical ward and lie down in one of the beds and just sleep it all off. She hadn't been fighting with her magic in a long time and she had forgotten just how draining it all was.

She also had no idea how long she had been sleeping and how long she had been lying on her side half-asleep watching Mereoleona sleep in the bed next to her. Y/N had no idea whether she was okay or not, but she was too exhausted to even ask about it or find out. Not that there were many people around taking care of them. It seemed like they were leaving them alone to recover for a while. Either that or they were both dead and this was all some sort of dream.

Y/N wasn't really sure which one she preferred. If she was dead she was definitely glad that she was at least around Mereoleona in some way. But thinking about it more and more, she didn't want to be dead. She wanted to keep living, she wanted to grow older with Mereo (even though she herself wasn't really going to get older) and she wanted to live an entire lifetime with her. She wanted to know if everyone else was still okay and whether them fighting had made any difference at all. She wanted to know what had happened and if they had won.

But most of all, Y/N needed to sleep. She kept slipping in and out of consciousness for what felt like days. She was pretty sure that she had been talking to Mereo at some point and that they had a full conversation, but she couldn't really remember a single word of it. She was sure they had both been half asleep for the entire conversation and if anyone had heard them talking it was probably very nonsensical. Y/N just hoped no one had been there at the time.

Y/N was pretty sure that she remembered having visitors as well. Or maybe they were Mereo's visitors. She wasn't really awake at that stage, but she felt like she remembered some people standing around. Probably Fuegoleon and Leopold, if they were both awake and fine. Y/N wasn't really sure how long it took her to fully wake up and actually stay awake, but as soon as that had happened, she was constantly at Mereo's bedside. Mereo was about as drowsy and sleepy as her for a few days longer and it was kind of hilarious, especially because Y/N knew that she was definitely going to make it and only needed some rest.

It was probably about two or three days after Y/N was out of bed that Mereoleona woke up fully herself. She seemed just as confused as Y/N had felt when she was fully conscious again for the first time and she still looked pretty tired. But she had opened her eyes and actually kept them open, giving Y/N a tired smile as she stretched her arms while still lying in bed. She looked adorable when she was all sleepy like that and Y/N hated that this was the first time she had really seen her tired out and exhausted like this. She should tire her out more often.

"Y/N? Where the fuck am I?" was the first thing she said to her before yawning. She started to slowly sit up while Y/N was answering her questions. It looked almost like she was testing whether her body still worked the same way it did before she passed out (which it definitely did).

"You're in the medical ward. You just had a nice long nap to recover from all the fighting you've done. You were passed out after whatever or whoever you fought." Y/N explained to her. Mereo glanced over at her.

"Passed out? That bad?" she wanted to know. Y/N nodded. It had honestly been pretty bad. Y/N hadn't really been sure whether Mereo was going to make it or not when she had found her because she had spent so much energy that it didn't look good. But she also didn't have a lot of energy left herself. All she managed to do was lie down beside Mereo's unconscious body and rest as well as she could until some paramedics came to take them both away. By that time, Y/N could at least walk back to the medical ward, but Mereo had still been unconscious.

"Yeah, it was pretty bad. I don't know what you did, but it seems like throughout the entire day you just used a whole lot of magic and it took its toll on your body." Y/N told her. If she was honest, that was a bit of an understatement. It almost took Mereoleona out completely. She really should have been resting after she had come back to the capital and not blindly heading into the next fight. But they both knew that there was no way for Y/N to have stopped her.

"How long was I out? And are you okay? What about Fueggy and Leo?" she wanted to know. It seemed like she was becoming more and more aware of her surroundings now, as she looked around the medical ward. There were a few more Magic Knights in the same room, but it had become rather quiet over the last few days as a lot of them had been discharged.

"You were out for a good few days. I'm not really sure how long I was out, but you were out for two or three days longer than that. Maybe a week in total or something like that? I'm not really sure. It's all a blur. And there is no need to worry about Fuegoleon or about Leopold. They're both fine." Y/N replied. That was what she had heard at least, she hadn't really seen them much. They had checked up on Mereoleona briefly, before heading back to work. Apparently most of the Magic Knights were now working on building the capital back up again.

"Really? Even Fueggy? I should never have taken him with me, he should have been resting..." Mereo mumbled.

"Even Fueggy. He seems to be fine. I think he was out cold for about a day, but he made a very quick recovery after that. He's been visiting from time to time, but all the Magic Knights are busy reconstructing the city and helping out the citizens." Y/N answered. Mereo chuckled and nodded approvingly.

"Good... At least they're making themselves useful for something." she muttered before yawning once again. She seemed to be looking for something around her, before glancing up at Y/N.

"How are you feeling?" she wanted to know. Y/N shrugged. She wasn't feeling too bad anymore, but when she first woke up her entire body had been hurting like hell and her muscles were sore. They were still sore now, but not nearly as badly as when she had first woken up.

"I'm alright, I guess. My muscles are a little sore, but other than that I can't really complain. Not with all the injuries I've heard about, anyway. How are you feeling, Mereo?" Y/N asked. Mereo sighed.

"Do you want a nice answer or an honest answer?"

"Honest."

"I feel like shit."

Y/N chuckled and soon Mereoleona started laughing, too. Y/N knew exactly how she felt, because she had been there and she knew just how awful it was. But at least she knew for sure that it was going to get better. It just needed a bit of time. And while Mereo was resting and getting better she'd be there for her to take care of her and make sure she'd have a better time than Y/N had recovering.

"It'll get better, I promise. Is there anything you'd like me to get for you?" Y/N wanted to know. Mereo sighed and surveyed the room once more. It was almost like she was making a mental list of things she wanted and Y/N hoped it was going to be easy enough to get all of them.

"Can I get a glass of water and maybe something small to eat? And... can I get a kiss, too?" she asked, a smirk on her face. Y/N laughed and leaned in closer to her, giving her a small peck.

"Fine. I'll get you all of that." she answered.

"Thanks. But that wasn't a proper kiss!"
"You'll get a proper one when I get back."

"Fine... But you should know that I'm going to charge interest on that."
