Mereoleona knew that she shouldn't even be here. She knew that she should be in bed resting and recovering, but staying in bed all day was just so damn boring. She wanted to do something. And she knew that if she wanted to do something she'd have to be sneaky about it, because there was no way that Y/N would just let her go and train more so short after she had been in hospital. Still, Mereoleona just wanted to have something to do, so she had to sneak out.
She was sure that Y/N would understand... eventually. Either way, it wasn't like she was going to stop her. The most she would get from Y/N would be a look of disapproval (which was bad enough, but Mereo could live with it). What was worse was that she would definitely tell Fuegoleon who would tell her the same thing - that she should be resting, she had been injured and so on, and so forth. It annoyed Mereoleona that Fueggy was able to say that to her when he had just gone into a full on fight after waking up from a weeklong coma not too long ago. He was the one that should be resting, yet here he was, trying to rebuild the entire city.
It pissed Mereoleona off. Everyone was making themselves useful in some way, everyone was trying to do something to help and she couldn't even go out and train or help with everything. It was annoying. Fuegoleon should be resting, not her. He had been much worse off than her, but he was allowed to go out there and put his health at risk. Well, allowed was a big word, everyone kept telling him that he should be taking it easy, he just didn't listen to anyone.
So Mereoleona figured that she wasn't going to listen to anyone else either. What were they going to do to stop her? No one would be stupid enough to try that, which was probably one of the advantages of having the reputation of having a really bad temper. Sometimes it was annoying that everyone was at least a little scared of her, but most of the time it was a pretty handy thing. People left her alone and they made sure not to annoy her unnecessarily. It meant she could live in relative peace. Plus, no one was doubting how strong she was. They just left her alone.
So when Mereoleona woke up this morning she glanced over at Y/N who was still fast asleep. Normally Mereo would just turn around and continue sleeping for a little longer, because she had nothing to do all day, anyway, so she might as well not be tired. But today she wanted to start getting back into training, so she pressed a gentle kiss to Y/N's temple, before getting up and quietly sneaking out of their room. She hoped that Y/N wouldn't get up for a while and that she'd then take some time to actually find her, so she could get at least some hours of training in.
Mereo didn't want to lose all the progress she had made over time, just because she was going easy on herself. She had never gone easy on herself in her life and she wasn't going to risk liking it and becoming lazy and never training ever again. She could already see herself enjoying an easy and relaxed life and she knew she wasn't going to be able to lead that kind of life. Not if she wanted to stay the captain of the Royal Knights. Not if she wanted to keep having everyone's respect.
She didn't meet anyone on the way to the courtyard where she was normally training when she was visiting the capital. The place seemed to be completely empty, which was a little unusual, even considering how early it is. Usually there would be a lot of people out and about, taking care of business around the house. But it seemed everyone was already out and busy helping to rebuild the city. Mereo wished she could go and help out with it, but she knew that everyone was just going to try to send her back home. Not that they would succeed, but Mereo didn't really want to bother with that. Plus, she needed to get back into shape, herself.
She wasn't sure how long she had been training, before she heard steps coming closer. Someone had woken up and someone was about to find her out here, drenched in her own sweat and exhausted after having trained for a few hours. Mereoleona knew she wouldn't be able to get out of that one, no matter how much she tried to explain herself. Maybe if Leopold found her training she could somehow talk her way out of it, but anyone else? No way. But it was too late to worry about that now. She watched the door opening and out stepped Y/N.
"I knew I shouldn't have left you alone when you got up this morning." she said to her, smiling sleepily. She looked absolutely gorgeous. It seemed she had found a light coloured dress that was flowing down her body beautifully. It reminded Mereoleona of the water she had clad herself in back in the forest.
"Well, why didn't you leave me alone then?" Mereo replied with a wide grin. Y/N chuckled and shook her head.
"I was tired and too lazy to get up. Plus, I wouldn't have been able to stop you either way, would I?" Y/N told her. Mereoleona just shook her head. She knew as well as Y/N that she was stubborn. If she got something in her head, she was going to go through with it, no matter what anyone said about it.
"No. But just say what you have to say." Mereoleona replied. Y/N sighed.
"You should really be resting after all that fighting. You've already overexerted yourself so many times the last few weeks, I don't get why you're so set on overdoing it again." she told her. Mereoleona figured it was probably for the best to let Y/N say her thing and acknowledge it, instead of just plain out ignoring her advice. Still, she wasn't going to stop training.
"I see your point, but I don't want to get out of shape or anything. I need to stay on top of things, especially since we have just seen how strong our enemies are." she replied. At this point this conversation was more of a formality and they both knew it. Y/N shook her head once again.
"I get it, I get it, but... Mereo, you have to take it easy for a while. You can't just go and train for several hours at a time right now. I don't think you should be training at all just yet, but if you're so hellbent on it, then maybe you should at least not do this much. Take more breaks. Go easy on yourself, at least for a bit. You'll burn yourself out, otherwise." Y/N said. Mereoleona nodded.
She did have a point. There was no reason for her to just completely tire herself out. She could still train, but she could just take it a little easier for a while. She didn't need to master any new spells at this point, she just needed to stick to the ones that worked well for her and practice them. That would be enough for maybe a week or two and then she could go back to her regular training regimen. Maybe they could even head back to the forest and stay there for a while until Mereoleona was needed in the capital again... it seemed like a good option.
"Fine. I'll take a break if it makes you happy. We can maybe head out and see a bit of the city? Take a little walk or something? See how the rebuilding is going?" Mereoleona suggested. It was a nice day and she wanted to be able to spend some time with Y/N, especially since she had been pretty mild on her today. Mereo had expected more of a lecture about her training so soon after getting injured. But she was going to take what she got.
"Sure, that sounds fun. I'd love to do that, but you're going to have to shower first." Y/N told her. Mereo nodded.
"Yeah, of course. I'll go and shower for a bit and then we can go. Maybe we can get some nice food somewhere if you'd like to?" Mereoleona suggested. They hadn't really had time to go on a proper date anyway... Mereo had always been busy with her new squad and with missions and with training. It would be nice for them.
"Sounds great. I'll see you in a few minutes." Y/N answered with a smile.
