Chapter 12: Competition

Sam's POV
I pulled away from the kiss.
"Goodnight hayes."
"Goodnight" We both fell asleep next to each other.The only problem was I wasn't sleeping I was awake and thinking. I couldn't stop thinking. I just got kissed by the 2 boys I love.
"Sam?" I heard a whisper come from the door."
"Daniel?" He gestured me with his hand to 'Come'.I sat up and carefully hopped over Hayes, So I don't wake him up. I stood up completely and walked towards the door.
"What's up?"
"Lets go outside."
"Daniel. This isn't Florida. It's like 10 degrees outside."
"Well put on jackets.Come on"
"But Hayes and Nash their going to worry about us."
"Well be back before they wake up. Please. For me." Ever since we were 9 he would say that and I would be putty in his hands.
"Fine. Let me grab one of hayes sweaters"
"No it's fine take mine" I hesitated.But I grabbed it.
"Are you sure i know this is your favorite Hoodie" It was a
'TheHundreds' hoodie his brother gave it too him on his birthday.
"I'm sure you look better in it than I do anyways" He rubbed the back of his neck and bit his lip. I Blushed.
"Thank you" He grabbed my hand. I was kind of surprised. when I left Florida I was 12 and I knew I loved Daniel but I also knew I wanted hayes I didn't want to leave but I wanted hayes. We were kids but Me and Daniel still held hands and did all that Boyfriend/Girlfriend stuff. We walked outside of the door.
"What are we gonna do?"
"Umm does hayes have a tree?"
"Ummm yeah why?"
"Come on"
We ran to the backyard.Daniel started climbing the tree.
"Daniel what are you doing?"
"Climbing a tree. Making Memories. Come on." I started to climb Daniel helped me sit on the top branch.
"This is really high up."
"I've got you" he put his hand on my upper leg he knew that was my weakness.
"What time is it?"
"4:30AM!! why?"
"Good.. Right one time"
"For what?"
"Look" I turned my head away from him and I looked at the sun coming up.He turned to me.I looked at him. He kissed me. I pulled away.
"What was that for?"
"Do you remember when you were ten and a girl hit you."
"Yeah and I was crying I ran to my backyard and started to cry."
"I came to see you and we climbed your tree and fell asleep on your tree. We woke up at sunset and you kissed me"
"No no no no no YOU kissed ME"
"That's not how I remember it"
"Well that's how it happened" I said Making Daniel show his smile.Which was perfect😍.
"Why did you pull away?" His smile was fading.
"I like Hayes" He looked at his feet which were dangling off the tree branch.
"But I like you too." He began to smile. I blushed.
"Are you mad?"
"No I already know that I'm going to win you over"
"Don't be so sure hayes is very persuasive"
"So am I" We both started climbing down the tree.
We walked to the front of the house and tried to open the door but it was locked.
"What do we do?"
"Knock" I knocked on the door.
I was surprised to see Skylynn open the door.
"Hi Skylynn"
"Hi Sam..Who is this?" She said rubbing her eye tirelessly.
"My friend Daniel" We walked in the house.
"Where were you? they've been worried sick about you" I turned the corner to see Nash and Hayes sitting on the couch.
"Hey guys" I said attempting to break the silence.
"Hey guys? That's all you can say" I was shocked to hear Hayes say that in such and awful way.
"Calm down. What's the problem here?"
"I woke up and you and Daniel were gone." I had a blank face. I didn't see the problem.
"You left without my permission"
I snickered alittle.
"Your not my mom your not my dad and your not my big brother. I don't need your permission. Im a big girl I can handle myself."
He grabbed me by my arm and grabbed on tightly. It really hurt.
"Can we talk?"
"Leave her alone. If she said she can take care of herself..She can take care of herself."
"Stay out of this Daniel."
"She's my friend and I'm going to protect her"
"She doesn't need protection from me" They were chest to chest. You could feel the tension in the room.
"Stop both of you" I ran outside.
I could feel hayes and Daniel following me but I needed to be alone. I needed to be away from that competition.
